How long do they approve extensions for these days? Is it always one year at a time? My parents arrived on August 2019. Visa officer allowed them two year stay.

on a similar note if they arrived in August 2019 and were allowed a two year stay when should I send in a request for extension ? The supervisa itself is valid for four years so thats not an issue
July/August 2021 depending on when they arrived. Extension times vary. 1 year is common for a first extension. You can certainly ask for a certain time period if you want although you may not get it. Supervisa remains a visitor program so parents should be planning on returning home at a certain point.

Thank you. Is it a fairly certain approval process? Does my income proof and savings needs to be submitted again as well?

Yes you need to show proof of income, proof of insurance, etc. Nothing is guaranteed but the first approval is fairly common as long as everything checks out. Another medical will be required.

The article linked has nothing to do with prioritizing young people or families immigrating. It is about a Canadian citizen faces delays with a foreign adoption.
They are young families immigrating. Foreign adoption is part of it.

does medical test always need to be re-done? I was under the impression it was not required for extensions. Can people please share their experiences with extensions. Thanks in advance

Yes it usually has to be redone but not 100%. A medical is a big part in determining whether ana applicant qualifies for a supervisa.

Thanks, Should we expect something next year then?
I have no insider knowledge. I don't see it happening this year. I don't know about next year.
