Study Permit AIP & Final Decision 2020

Hello everyone! Does anyone know how long does it take to get a final decision after receiving AIP?

I believe many international students are still waiting for the AIP's or final decisions for 2020 Fall intakes. Let's share our timelines and the location where you applied - hopefully we can get some ideas of what to expect. Best wishes everyone!

I applied for 2020 Fall study permit in USA: (not US citizen)
-July 12: submitted application
-July 30: completed biometrics
-Aug 19: eligibility review started + got message of AIP
-still waiting for final decision

you should take a chill pill and wait atleast till September 15.

Thanks! I kinda expected the same. I believe IRCC is prioritizing the AIP's for all pending cases so there might be a longer waiting time for second stage approval.

Are only the countries which has closed vfs center receive AIP ?
i mean where I live the vfs canada is opened also the covid 19 is under control
do anyone know ?

I don't think so... I think the AIP applies to all pending non-SDS applications.

Hi I also applied from US and got AIP on 18th August. Do u think we will get second stage approval by 15th September or end of September?

I’m not optimistic on this... tbh I think if we can have the final approval by the end of September, it’s already a good news! Right now the processing time for study permit applications in the US is 20 weeks... Uhh do we really have to wait for that long??

I do not think we need to wait that long. I heard that we would receive second stage approval if all VACs in America were fully open. VAC in LA will be open at the end of September. That is why I think they will issue second stage approval by then

So why they are giving aip to the countries that have canadian vfs already open?

Many citizens in EU are receiving aip while the vfs canada are opened

Ohh! Really? I thought VAC’s are only helping to collect and deliver applications instead of actually reviewing applications. I’m not sure tho...

I think maybe at this point IRCC officers try to issue AIP instead of full approval since travel ban has not been lifted. That is my guess. Not sure if right or wrong

Yeah but they should approve complete applications especially in countries where covid 19 is under control. Anyways I hope we all get approved soon because classes start in a just week.

Not at all. Some countries such as our has no vac anyway. Full application done including biometrics and received first stage confirmation. Waiting 27 weeks including CAQ.
