Hi Everyone,
Need advice on TRV application for my 8 month old kid. Both parents are PR holders and currently in India. We want to apply visitor visa for our kid and move to Canada for good.

1. There are multiple options for purpose of visit . We are confused abt Family visit/visit/others. What can be best option in our case as baby will be travelling with parents with valid PR?

2. As per info provided in application upload of invitation letter is mandatory. Can one of parent being a PR holder put an invite?
We can get an invite for baby from family in Canada too, but that doesn’t seem logical. Pls guide

Request guidance to proceed thru. Thanks in advance

A parent must be in Canada to sponsor their child. You can try to get a TRV. If refused, try for a TRP. If refused, one parent needs to go and stay in Canada to sponsor the child.

Thank you so much. I will request you to guide me on TRV application.

1.What should be selected as purpose of visit among different options available (family visit/visit/other)

2. Can parent being a PR holder write an invitation letter for baby? In our case parent will be travelling with Baby to Canada.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for quick revert. I am getting below options relevant to me
1. Tourism
2. Family visit
3. Visit
4. Other

You suggest of selecting other (4)
What if they ask Invitation letter? Can parent being a PR holder provide the same.

Thanks in advance

If you are looking to travel to Canada urgently then select Other and write “COVID-19” and explain your situation in detail with the purpose of the visit for your kid. However if you guys are looking to travel to Canada in near future you can select Family visit.

If there are refusals for the TRP of your kid, you may have to sponsor him under family class which can take up to 12 months or longer processing time during this pandemic

It would be other. You’re asking for infant to join 2 Permanent resident parents. Would encourage you to write a brief letter explaining that you are 2 PRs and you had your child abroad and the baby is too young to remain without you and you want to go to Canada as a family.

This isn’t a covid application. We’re talking about an infant application. The safest thing for an infant and covid is to remain at home and isolate from those going outside. The baby is only asking to go as a visitor and FNs are not being given TRVs to go to Canada and escape covid since the Canadian taxpayer will have to pay for their care since most travel medical insurances don’t cover covid.

This will be a COVID TRV, if they plan to travel to Canada right away with the infant. They are processing COVID applications quicker that falls under exempted family members.

You are no IRCC accredited lawyer please find out first if you don’t know everything.

Would say the same thing. There is a special email for covid PRTDs but this is a TRV. Many will not be approved for a TRV whether the reason is covid or not. TRVs remain for visitors. This case is also fundamentally not about covid which will be evident to the visa officer who will evaluate it as an infant wanting to accompany the parents to Canada before sponsorship starts.

Thanks for revert. When we are selection "OTHER" as purpose of visit in online application, they are asking to upload invitation letter. Can any of parent as a PR holder invite infant or invitation letter has to be from someone residing in Canada at present. Also can explanation letter be a substitute for invitation letter.

Thanks in advance. Really appreciate your help

Thanks for revert. We plan to travel after 3-4 months as right now we are not sure about flights operations from our country and also want some more time for this pandemic to subside.

Oh wow congratulations. Can you provide any further info such as purpose of trip. My son’s TRV was denied and both parents are also PRs. We also wanted to move in a few months.
