You still should also be showing you and your spouses savings. You need to show that you have the funds to be able to weather any bumps in the road.
Agree canuck78 - However the key change would be showing the 'Gross Salary' as 'Funds available'. Rest should fall in place with the salary letter+Savings details.

funds available isn’t gross salary. Sne was correct in showing her savings but should have included a letter detailing their job duties and salary.

She is on approved work permit which guarantees her certain annual package. She will be supporting him with the salary package until he gets a job(7k savings won’t be sufficient to support her husband for more than a few months, hence the VO might have found it too low)... Legally, I believe it should be ok to quote it this way! For salary/ duties, she could use the supporting letter that she would have submitted for her WP application... Just my viewpoint!

Hi Usha,

I m assuming you were applying for your husband as a fresh Temporary Visa Applicant. Since SoWP is an application dependent on yours, there is a requirement to submit funds availability. Since you are here on Work Permit, you should provide your 'annual gross salary in CAD' in 'Funds available' in your IMM form, not the bank funds(Thats only if you both were coming here on Visitor Visa) and in the 'Client Information' document, please attach a copy of your support letter(The one your would have submitted for your work permit) + a fresh reference letter from your company(having primarily your role name, start date, salary in CAD etc). I did get my wife's SoWP approved with this information. So, I would suggest you to go with this approach. Good Luck!
Hi Arun, My husband already has TRV. We are applying for SOWP only now. My company is not ready to provide a fresh reference letter. I have a deputation letter which was provided to me when I travelled which has the details of start date, salary in CAD, role etc. Will that suffice? Support letter has the NOC job code. How about showing funds in my husband's bank account back in India? Is that also needed. Will a gift deed be fine to submit?

When did you get married? That is another issue. $6700 is not a lot of savings especially in big cities. If you deduct the price of a flight your savings go down to closer to 5k. When you applied you had not worked long enough to be eligible for any form of benefit if you lost your job. Given the economy CIC may want a higher savings level because the chance of job loss is higher. We see a lot of SOWP being denied if it is a new arranged marriage where the couple hasn’t spent a lot of time together. Your spouse can come on a TRV once it is allowed but given your level of savings and the economy you both can use any income he is earning to boost your savings.
We got married in Nov 2017. Now I have bank savings close to 16k CAD. Will that be sufficient to apply? And for my husband, what can we show as proof of funds if the bank balance is not maintained.

Hi Usha,

Are you on Intracompany Work Permit(ICT) or others like PGWP?
I was on ICT & when I applied for my wife's SOWP(She had a Visitor Visa and already in Canada at that time), only below docs were requested:

1. IMM5710E(Appln to change conditions/ extend status)
2. Passport
3. Digital Photo
4. Marriage Certificate
5. Family Member Proof of Status(Your WP, Passport Stamp etc)
6. Client Information(Additional Information)
7. IMM5257(Family Info)

Neither IMM5710 not IMM5257 requested for 'Funds information', although I did provide my support letter, payslip etc on Client Information. Hope you have answered the right set of initial questionnaire that would decide the required set of docs for you.

Usha - It seems the application set for someone in Canada is different from the one when you apply from India. Can you confirm which document asks for 'Fund availability' in your case?

Hi Arun, there were no specific documents asked to show proof of funds. Thats the reason we are worried now as to what other documents we may have to submit so that our application won't be refused again.

My take would be to submit a reference letter from your employer, containing salary, start date, role, location etc. Additionally, you can add in the support letter from your WP application, that would contain the roles & responsibilities(Specific to your NOC) + prev 2-3 payslips. Convert all into a single document & add it as part of 'client information'. You can review other suggestions as well to arrive at the final documentation. Good Luck!

Sure. Thank you. Apart from these docs, Is there no need to show proof of funds for my husband in India account?

Yes 16k is much better than before. Would try reapplying or wait for GCMS notes and the reapply. Make sure you will still have over 6 months left on your WP when she will get approved.

Bank statements are the basic one. If you own property you can also include proof you own the property and the assessed value.
