Honestly, people shouldn't worry about immigration intake and levels until 2023 at the least. That is when the mandate for the current government ends. After that, things may change depending on the party that wins and the issues they campaign for.
2023 is too close, in fact 2033 because canada recession will take minimum of 10 years to bounce back and immigration as we know does not play a role in helping the economy out of recession.

Why is that ppl love negativity so much? When the great depression struck hard, most countries were able to cope up with that and by 2009 end, everything was more than good.
That's when IT boomed, projects started coming to offshore (India, China, etc), more manufacturing, export and import surge and all
That's why every nation has economists. This time, there were lot of lay offs plus low to zero productivity.
Now, companies are hiring people back and governments are paying hefty to companies as well as to ppl
Everything will be back in a year or may be lesser

There is no need to wait that long, just make all work permit holders immigrants, problem solved.

Its annoying. Just support their negativity and they will stop disturbing the thread.

Guys, I'm in a grave situation.
I have sent my MBA docs to CES which reached them on Dec 11. They started to work on my file until March 18 and after that, CES' staffs started to work remotely.
I was under the impression that they will complete my request by at least May. Now I got an email stating that my file (physical transcript) is in their office and they cannot access it until CES (University Of Toronto) opens its gate to staffs.
I kept calling them (once in a week) from the 21st of March and they kept saying that they are working on my file but this Friday (May 1) they gave this piece of shocker to me, which really sunk my heart.
I know that students will have to learn via online till September but I'm afraid that University staffs (and CES') too will not go to the university at all till Sep
Can someone pls provide some best guidance
My transcript is in their office. They cannot complete the task until they get the transcript.
Will Universities in Ontario will be shut till Sep or Univ will open soon (probably following the govt's order of easing) and only students will have to study online till Sep
I think that Colleges and Universities will be open and staffs will flock to workplaces but just that only students will not be allowed to enter the campus
Pls share your thoughts
Universities and colleges in Ontario should be opening next week from what i've seen in the news.

Very simple...USA is doing right thing ~ pause the foreign immigration intake and save the country

Canada is doing humanity way and thats why they invite CEC and PNP only

need good people to support economy and population during recession??
when unemployment rate is 5 million already and why we wanna add 1 million immigrants to make it 6 million?
You are not examining the situations objectively; people won't stay out of jobs forever. It's understandable that some people won't get their jobs back because some companies might not bounce back from this but many employers would, especially with the way the government has helped businesses in Canada. It might take a while for normalcy to return but trust me it will, and when it does, everybody would be happy. Canada aren't just happy bringing people in, they are doing so because their future depends on it. So it doesn't matter what happens now, they will strive to keep what they have and make provisions for adding the numbers they NEED.

Can't wait for the FSW draw. Would be good riddance. Wonder where they would get their sadistic pleasure then.
I hope IELTS resume as soon as possible as I feel that's when IRCC would be comfortable enough to do the draws. I feel they would want to stall a little bit to ensure that they are getting the best of the best out of the pool. They need the best candidates now more than ever, or so anyone would think. I learnt they are easing the lockdowns from tomorrow.
