USA just suspended all the immigration streams to protect the jobs of american citizens. How will that affect the Canadian express entry? Personally, I believe this will cause more influx of FSW candidates. Once the FSW draws are resumed, i expect the CRS scores to shoot up to 480s easily. What do you all think?

On a related note, we all must be still thankful that Canada is still conducting draws despite the fact that unemployment rates are spiking up in the country. So many folks on here complain on how IRCC is doing CEC draws only when they could easily follow the USA’s footsteps and suspend the entire EE until further notice in order to protect the jobs for canadian citizens.

Chill.....there’s a huge backlog with educational evaluations and most IELTS centers are still closed... the new applicants from US will need to wait for months before they could enter EE.

Also Trump is signing an order to suspend immigration not work permits. Work permits are considered as non-immigration visas. And some immigration applicants probably already have their H1B.

Do you know how difficult it is to satisfy the requirements for skilled immigration in the US? So please don’t panic lol

Wouldn't be surprised if they reduce immigration quotas though.

WOW! I haven't been on here in a while. These numbers are crazy. I feel blessed that I got through with my 439 CRS imagine how those who got in with 413 CRS score. I see some trying times for hopeful express entry immigrants to Canada. Don't give up easily, keep pushing but also have to courage to come the grips when things are not possible. A plan B is absolutely essential.

Oil is plummeting which is the lifeline of canadian economy.since immigration also plays a vital role in contributing to the economy, it won't be stopped.

Without immigration money canada cannot survive, toronto housing bubble will burst within no time.

Personal Speculation: Only CEC and PNP draws for the foreseeable future (3-6 months), and then limited FSW draws after that with a focus for inland applications.

Hoping the next draw would still be CEC draw only, so the score might continue to drop, and I might get a chance to get an invitation with my 448 CRS.o_O

Oil's not small, but it's not the "lifeline". Canada's economy is diversified. Manufacturing is larger than oil and mining combined. Finance is big, real estate is big, professional services is big. Somewhere like Saudi Arabia, where in 2018 oil accounted for 42% of the country's GDP... that place has to worry about oil prices and the market shrinking. Canada will be fine.

I'm hoping for at least one FSW draw soon. Even just one would be fine. Last was on March 4th.

For CECs in the pool right now, this is as good a chance as they'll ever get for PR
From my perspective, it is now or never for me, considering the current situation. If I miss this opportunity, I might have to come back to my mother country and gain one-year work experience to increase my CRS, and re-enter the pool as a FSW candidate, but who knows what is gonna happen at that time? Everything is unpredictable right now.

If FSW happens then it continue continue to operate as normal, I don't think there will be a 'one off' FSW draw. The biggest concern will be that after the so called 'flattening of the curve', people from abroad will bring covid19 with them and disrupt the progress made after months of social distancing.
