Hello everyone,

Need to know if you are planning to take 50 points from the current employer, I have seen majority of people use these points for immigration, can you guys share your view and understanding if this is simple and easy to use this point for immigration purpose?

In CRS calculator , the point 8 says the same as below.
8) Do you have a valid job offer supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (if needed)?
A valid job offer must be
  • full-time
  • in a skilled job listed as Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B in the 2011 National Occupational Classification
  • supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or exempt from needing one
  • for one year from the time you become a permanent resident
------
Kindly share your view if you have used this option. thanks in advance.

It depends on your personal situation. If you are already here on an LMIA supported closed work permit, then it's relatively straight forward. If not, quite difficult.

What's your status in Canada now and what sort of work permit do you hold?

Yeah, so My company has LMIA exempt for the skills I am working and I am part of it, so I am not sure if it is LMIA or LMIA except number mentioned on WP.
however, going back to your point you mentioned it is relatively straight forward, so can I assume that yes, we can count these points as part of our CRS calculation. :)
I will plan to have use this point in this case, thanks

Are you on a closed work permit with your employer listed on your work permit? Have you worked for your employer for at least one year in Canada?

Yes. You can claim the points after you have worked for your employer in Canada for one full year.

Hi @scylla, Need to know bit more from your perspective:
I have been in Ontario with same employer on closed work permit, and now there is project coming in B.C province, my same employer might file a change in work permit and might send me to B.C. for work. In that case, once my WP changes( usually 3 months) and I landed in B.C Can I still claim these 50 points?

There is also a reason I am asking that I am getting around 121 points for when I checked with theB.C. Nomination calculator, and in case if i can get those above points in B.C. I can get the pnp for BC very fast. Because for B.C. pnp they expect you would be in BC and you would have valid job offer to apply the BC pnp.
let me know your thoughts.

Yes, both points are true.
Then the only other thing you would need to claim the 50 points is an offer of future employment, for at least one year (or permanent employment) after you become a permanent resident.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/offer-employment.html

"if you have a valid work permit for a NOC 0, A or B job that is exempt from needing an LMIA, and you:
  • are currently working for an employer specified on the work permit
  • have one year of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work) for that employer
  • have a valid job offer from that employer for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa"

As long as it is the same employer, then yes, but if you get a PNP express entry nomination, you won´t need it (for the federal application).

Yes got your point, but I might not be lucky for the federal because my CRS is low as 397 Vs 472. So the best bet for me is PNP an i am thinking BC, in case my employer plans to send me BC for work.

If i work permit is valid for another year from the same employer, would that be considered as a valid offer? If im with the same employer WP how will they give a new offer letter or it should be a offer from a different employer?

I am not so quite sure, but you would use the original offer letter, nothing new on that side, but yes you might want to demand a new letter(not offer letter). and this letter stating that you would be employed with the same employer as far as there is demand in the market or something like that.

No. You need a new letter from the employer confirming a full-time offer for at least one year after PR.

How about my current closed work permit valid for more than 1 year and 10 months, and the positive LMIA valid for 4 months, when submitting the e-apr?
