Hi Man,

I hope you are doing well.

I need a bit of advice from you, I hope you don't mind at all giving one.

So I applied to York University for fall 2020, my chosen programs were BSc Computer Science and BEng Software Engineering however my application was unsuccessful due to some reason ( I have emailed them to get to know the reason about it ).

I contacted the registrar and the lady was very helpful, she requested my application to be reviewed for an alternate program. She informed that they can admit me to BA Information Technology however I'm hesitating as this is BA program. I have asked her if I can be admitted to BA Computer Science instead of IT, still waiting for the response.

I need an advice, if so they give me a offer letter for BA IT or Computer Science should I accept it ? Would the content be same which is of BSc, secondly is the BA degree recognizable in the IT industry ? Is it really worth it, would you recommend me taking the option and leaving BSc behind

By any chance is it possible to get a program transfer after completing atleast 1 year with BA ?

As I have applied as an International Transfer Student ( From another post secondary institution from outside America & Canada ), I was assessed over my GPA, I have told them that currently my semester is going on and I'm expecting to raise my GPA, they have informed me that if I do raise the GPA they might re-visit my application and send an offer for BEng or BSc.

An advice will be highly appreciated.
As you might know that there is/are difference between BA and BSc. If you chose to accept the BA IT or lucky to be consider for BA Computer Science you'll belong to the faculty of Liberal Art. The content for BA and BSc programs will definitely be different. Whether BA degree is recognize in IT industry will be difficult for me to answer. I believe it depends on the individual firm. On the question whether to forgone the BSc interest, I will say depends on your personal and career interest. Honestly, inter-faculty transfer may be possible, (but intra-faculty is more easy) if you meet the requirement, however, you may have to spend extra terms/year to complete. Finally, since you've not complete your program, I'll suggest you wait and work on your GPA so that there's meeting of mind. By this I mean getting into the program of your primary interest; rather than taken option where your passion isn't.

Can anyone suggest what type of study visa I shall consider to apply out of SDS or General? I have admission offer for Masters program from one of the leading university based at Nova scotia and I have scored 79 each in PTE. I am more comfortable in paying 1st term fee only instead of full year payment but little worried whether it will be safe to proceed with NON-SDS route or not ?

It is fine if you want to proceed with NON-SDS however the line can take upto 2 months for you to receive your visa, so keep in mind that you should be having plenty of time however people sometimes do get it within 20 days - 1 month as well but as of current situation COVID-19 do keep plenty of time.

Thank yo for your reply.
Yes, I ave plenty of time because I'll submit application on 1st April 2020 for September 2020 intake. Anyway so as per your observation there is no risk in term of success rate if I'll opt to go with Non-SDS route after paying 1st term fee only?

No problem buddy :)

Yes, I guess 1st April is fine, what you can do is create an application now upload the documents but pay the fees by 1st April. It'll just make your application processed on the same day. Paying 1st term fee is fine, attach the letter copy that you'll receive from university stating that fees has been paid which would be sufficient enough.

If you need more advice regarding filling the information, just keep in touch and I'll respond you back. :)

Ok, I'll start uploading all the documents today and pay by 1st April so that I can expect the decision before June. I was little worried earlier because experts here in India strongly advocating to apply visa through SDS channel only because that certainly make application strong in front of VO. But after having conversation with you I feel confident that non-sds also has good success ratio and only advantage with sds is less processing time. Thank you once again for your prompt replies and in depth clarifications. Will let you know in case of any further doubts.:)

Yeah it'll save you time when you're paying the visa fee on 1st April as making an application itself takes about 1 - 2 hours, just while filling the application be calm and think twice while writing anything over it as it will help you alot. SDS is a entry type for students for certain country and it takes less time in to process the visa however the process stays the same as immigration officers are the same they aren't different so they see the application from same angle. Create an application by yourself individually, no need of involving any agent at the moment however you might require when you would have to give bio metric, for that you can visit VFS Global they're the best ! They charge approx 86 dollars, but this is a later on stage.

Honestly people who apply through SDS do get accepted more than NON-SDS but the application goes to the same officer so it doesn't matters at all. If you're having all completed documentation with all the requirements they'll process it at the same moment.

Sure, if there any doubts let me know or you can send it through a private pm as well :) Best of luck !!! I'll pray that you do get accepted !! Kuddos !
