Hi there , so I got a job to work as an administrative assistant from home for a company called Architonic which happens to be a large architectural company and the main office happens to be in Switzerland. Asides that my employer also says that they do have an office in Ottawa but based on my research I don’t seem to see anything online in regards to that. So my question is If working for an online company qualifies as having experience in Canada .

In my opinion, IRCC does not care if you work from home or office. Only challenges I see here as I don't know if that company is established in Canada for income tax purposes, would you get T4s or something from Swiss. Do they have any subsidiary in Canada that you would be employed under.

Also, if the hourly wage is too good to be true and if they tell you that they are paying you some upfront money with a cheque to buy a bunch of equipment and supplies. It's a RED FLAG.

Thank you for responding, I will be sure to ask my employer what you’ve mentioned.

Did you get an LMIA to work for them? Although I imagine you're on PGWP so you don't need one to work.

Are they paying you in Canada? As above, make sure there's a T4 and similar tax reporting. If you're being paid by an out-of-Canada employer and not paid through a Canadian entity, it may not be considered Canadian work.

Yes they said they would be paying me in Canada apparently they have a location in ottawa. Thank you for your response I’ll be asking them about the T4 or tax reporting
