Hey all,

Just thought I'd create this thread for all of us overseas who are applying to MPNP so we can get an idea of how quick the process is going. I couldn't find another thread relating directly to overseas applicants.

My timeline so far is:

ITA for EOI 28 November 2019

EOI 05 December 2019

LAA 06 December 2019 (Draw #78)

Application submitted 08 December 2019

Application Received 09 December 2019

Application in Process 20 December 2019

So far I'm happy with the progress but I expect now that my application is being processed that is when the long wait will be?

Hi wotsit,
Thanks for this thread. I'm actually a newbie and I don't have the slightest idea of how to go about the process . Did you by any chance use an agent or you did it on your own.

I don't believe that you need to use an agent especially if you have a good grasp of English.
There are plenty of people online here who are happy to help you in the process.

I didn't use an agent, just did a fair bit of research myself and all the forms I've come across so far have been easy to understand.

Is it Manitoba you are interested in?

Thanks for the reply. Like I said earlier I don't really have any idea on where to apply for but do you think Manitoba would be easier to apply?

I think it's more about where you would prefer to live.
I can't really say which is easier I only have experience with Manitoba, I'm sure other provinces have good immigration processes.

To immigrate through Manitoba pnp you do need a connection to the province through previous work, study, a close friend or relative or invitation to apply through a strategic recruitment initiative/exploratory visit.

I have no connection to Manitoba, I applied through the Morden Community Initiative and was invited for an exploratory visit.

An exploratory visit to a community you are hoping to live in is a great idea. This allows you to properly explore the area and make sure it's right for you. First step if you are interested in this route is to check your eligibility at www.mordenimmigration.com you can also apply to this initiative online.

Alternatively you could think of studying or getting a job offer/work experience that will then give you a connection to the province. I'm not sure how difficult getting a job offer would be I guess it depends on your area of expertise.

There are other communities in Canada that will help and offer you support to immigrate in Manitoba the two communities are Altona www.seedrpga.com and Brandon www.economicdevelopmentbrandon.com
These communities advertise job vacancies via their websites so if a job opportunity that suits you comes up you can apply that way.

For most immigration programs eligibility includes the need of an Educational Credential Assessment to prove that you have a qualification of some level.

I would definitely recommend taking a look at the Morden website if you are interested in moving to a rural area. Myself and my family thoroughly enjoyed our exploratory visit and found the town had everything we need in a place to live and everyone was really welcoming.

If I can be of any further help please let me know. It's probably worth looking at other threads on these forums as theres probably a lot more information on programs I don't know about.

Thanks so much for the information. I've checked thoroughly and I think I will go for Saskatchewan. That's where my NOC is going to work for me. Thanks once again

Hi! Congratulations on your ITA! Could you please tell me whether you had an Express Entry profile? We submitted an EOI with 561 point last October, but we don't have an EE profile. They specifically mention in their latest draws that they only choose candidates with an EE. Also, if you don't mind could you let us know your points for EOI or CRS score?
Thank you!
Best of Luck to you in all your endeavors!

I did not have an express entry profile at the time but I recently created one and hopefully it will be tied to my mpnp application.

I can't remember the exact EOI points but it was just less than 800, I received extra points for strategic recruitment.

Currently the mpnp only seem to be selecting candidates through strategic recruitment. I think this has been since last July but could change at any time.

If you can qualify for EE you should do it as it will cut down processing time massively.

Best of luck to you also.

I got ITA and submitting my PR application soon. Hopefully, I would be in Canada this year. I plan to land in Manitoba. As a Manitoba resident, how can I help my elder sister immigrate through PNP? Will she need a job offer in addition to having me there as a manitoba resident? What steps does she need to take?

I really would appreciate your response

Once you have been a permanent resident for a year you will be eligible to sponsor her and she should then be able to apply to the MPNP. Presuming she meets all other requirements.
She will have higher points if she has a job offer but could still be selected without.

As for steps she needs to take , for now take steps to improve language skills, get any references of skilled work experience and make sure she has all educational documents that she needs. This will all help with the amount of points she will get.

Good luck with your PR application.
