Hello Guys,

I am yet to submit my application. I know there is no income eligibility on spousal sponsorship. As any sponsor who is unemployed submitted application?
Is showing considerable savings and mentioning through a letter that sponsor is not relying on any provincial benefits and eligible to support spouse through their personal savings enough for the sponsor approval?
this is from Canada.ca
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children/eligibility.html

Income requirement

In most cases, there isn’t an income requirement to sponsor your spouse or partner or dependent child. You only need to show that you have enough money to meet the income requirements if:

  • you’re sponsoring a dependent child that has 1 or more dependent children of their own, or
  • you’re sponsoring a spouse or partner that has a dependent child, and their dependent child has 1 or more children of their own.

Can you share more about the criminal hiccup? We are SA Canadian and PA American too and have a very similar timeline to you! My husband as a record, 1 non conviction for flight from an officer that he has had expunged even though he went through pretrial intervention, and one misdemeanour (intoxication in public)

We sent all of our court records, the expungement papers, etc. so I’m hoping it’s a non issue and we get news soon!

his was a dui from 10 years ago. We sent entire case and a letter from a criminal lawyer explaining what pbj was and how he wouldn’t have been convicted here either. Seems to have worked.

hopefully you hear back soon!

Thanks for replying! That makes me optimistic, I wasn’t sure if the criminal paperwork would slow things down. Our file was transferred to Mississauga on dec 13th, so maybe we will get news soon!

Hi Bela
Any news?
Hi:) no one received aor2, even those whose files were translated a week earlier than mine in Warsaw, apparently they are looking at cases in piles of several.waiting...but I'm not complaining, in fact, the fall 2019 files go fast compared to others. patience is a benefactor. what about you? I was wrong. and now I am convinced that aop2 is when the status is returned in the process and 2 lines are added. status Application Received - it just says that the file arrived at the visa center
