As reported earlier, my friends parents (14th May case) got PPR yesterday and my in-laws (16th May case) recieved theirs today.
My parents (10th May case) were not that lucky as their file was transferred from Mississauga to Delhi on 29 Nov during background checks and it's still in "Application Received" status.
How do you know the change to VO?

Hello,
I was able to get some info by calling the call center for my parents PGP. The person i talked mentioned that the File has been transferred to NDVO for further processing. I am still awaiting for acknowledgement letter (If any), Bio and Medical request form NDVO. they also mentioned that the call center will not be able to provide information on the status from NDVO.

Could anyone please share their experience on NDVO timeline regarding BIO and Medical request once it is transferred to their office. (Sponsor's DM letter received Dec. 14, 2019)

Thank you
Cheers

Hello everyone.
I joined this forum as I am starting to worry about my parents application.
Per Canada Post - the application forms were received June 27, 2019 (a day before the deadline - yikes!)
Some of my friends heard back from CIC asking for additional info which didn't worry me at that time because I was confident that our application was complete. Then I started hearing some were already for medical and some were already approved and on their way to Canada.
Looking at the tracker I shouldn't be worried as I am not alone - hopefully the tracker is updated, though. :p
Please add me in the tracker as well. Thanks in advance.

Thats some amazing progress for lots of you!

My application was received in May 22/23 but it seems that I still have not heard any updates. While I see many others who submitted around the same time has been updated, my e-case is still showing in process. I am quite sure my income has reached the required amount for the past three years and clean record. Does anyone have any idea why it may be delayed?

Also, anyone is familiar with "progress review" process as i heard it may be useful in evaluating where an application is sitting at.

As always, much appreciated!
I am May 29 applicant. Sponsor approval is still in progress. In my case (and for few others), the reason for delay is that they contacted the province's social services department to obtain approval. Yours could be in progress for possibly the same reasons. You can order GCMS notes to find out why exactly your file is not moving.

There are a multitude of possibilities why an application may be delayed. No one can tell you what that might be unless you got a hold of the officer that is processing your application. Send an inquiry into the delay via IRCC webform and see what they say. You could try "progress review". But, if application processing time is still within 20 to 24 months, then it won't do any good. Other applicants who applied around the same time got further in processing than you does not have any bearing on legal argument. That being said, you could also engage your MP and ask him/her to send an inquiry on your behalf as well.I would start with IRCC webform first, and approach MP if there's no reply from IRCC or does not get satisfactory answer.
Do they even respond to webform inquires regarding status updates if file is within average processing timeframes?

@robertp I recieved letter in myCIC on 29 Nov that our file was being transferred to NDVO for further processing. Around 10 Dec e-cas status changed from In Process" to "Application Received". It's still the same. When can I expect it change to "In Process" again? Any analytical guess.
Thanks.

It will change back to in process when they start processing your file. Slow but progressing at NDVO

Background Check Explained

As many PGP 2019 applicants passed the medical and waiting in the “We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information”, this is the time to explain what happening in the Background Check (BGC).

BGC is another one of those terms sometimes used in a specific sense, which typically is in reference to the RCMP criminal history check and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) security check, BUT is also used in a more generic sense in respect to the verification and assessment process which is done by IRCC processing agents.

If there are inquiries or research into open sources, like online media including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn , those are ordinarily done by an IRCC processing agent in the local office which is processing the application. This would be part of the "background checks" done in general, IRCC's assessment and verification of the information provided by the applicant. This can range very widely and can include making telephone calls to employers, doing research to verify addresses, telephoning the applicant, including typical Internet searching for information about the applicant.

In addition to the form RCMP and CSIS clearances, there may be also the Global Case Management System (GCMS) check . GCMS also screens Field Operations Support System (FOSS) entries, which can include border crossing notes or criminal name-record hits.

The scope of the BGC in the broader, more generic sense, can range from minimal to extensive, depending on whether a processing agent sees something raising a concern or question and their is no fixed timeline for this.

Note: After COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) the landing visa will be valid for 12 months from your medical passed date. So it is reasonable to expect that BGC will be done within 2-4 months so that the applicant get enough time to prepare themselves for landing.

-------------
What is FOSS?

The FOSS database is a central repository of information on all persons who have been, may be or are wanted to be seen by Immigration staff. FOSS is the main operational support system for immigration operations in Canada. The system is comprised of numerous components including query functions, status entry, document creation, refugee monitoring, case processing support, medical profiles, registry functions, client name and address, statistical functions, airport primary inspection line functions, access and security, appeals and litigation, quality assurance and records maintenance. FOSS also provides query capabilities for lost, stolen and fraudulent documents. All Immigration staff that work with the public and the staff that support these officers use FOSS. It is also used at all international airports by customs inspectors and by a number of specialized groups, such as: Case Management, Query Response Center, Social Insurance Registry, Immigration Health, Immigration Statistics, External Affairs Protocol, Canadian consulates in various locations in the United States.
