Hello everyone!

I am an Indian Girl, residing in Qatar since last 5 years with my parents and siblings. Recently I applied for Student Visa under SDS and it has been rejected on numerous reasons which leaves me highly disappointed -

1) Travel History ( I have traveled for both official trip ( Philippines ) and leisure trips (UK and Turkey on my own expense in the year 2019 ) )

2) Purpose of Visit ( I had provided statement of purpose, letter of acceptance for MBA. Is there other document/ information I missed?)

3) Current Employment status ( I'm a mid-career level - HR Compensation Analyst in Qatar healthcare system which is in World's top 5. My company will retain my employment contract even if I leave for my MBA. They are expecting me to join back the corporation with a higher career role.
Also I have founded and run my own business of a fashion house along with my mother in Qatar )

4) Personal Assets & Financial Status : I had already paid 75 % of my university fees, full term residency fees, CAD 10,500 as GIC , tickets, Bank Balance of CAD 10,500.
Though I dont own any property back in India under my name; but I do own 2 cars in Qatar collectively worth CAD 55K+ and some jewelry worth CAD 10-12K. But I had not mentioned this in my SOP. Wondering if my parents/ brother is required to be added as my sponsor ?

5) Family ties in Canada and country of residence : I dont have any family member or relative in Canada and how to prove my ties in country of residence. My parents reside in Qatar since last 18 years and even I did a part of my schooling in Qatar but graduation in India and returned back to my parents in Qatar in 2014.

Do I need to order GCMS notes or consult an immigration lawyer for this ?

I would appreciate any help or guidance on the information that I missed to mention to the Immigration officer. Thank you so much in advance.

I understand how disappointing a visa refusal could be. I believe you have a good travel history.
a) On the purpose of visit, I believe you need to work more on your SOP. Probably, it is not convincing enough. Especially, when you are residing outside your home country. You might need a study leave and reference letter from your employer. Aside the letter of acceptance, did you include receipt of tuition payment from the University?
b) On the issue of personal asset, I believe even when you mention cars and jewellery, they are not really considered assets that will warrant your return home. In my opinion, using your parent and/ or brother as sponsor, is more convincing and reasonable.
Lastly, do you have any relative in India? If yes, you might need to explain this to immigration in your letter. Also, if your parent has any landed property, you might need to explain with evidence such as testamentary will. If you're not in rush to re-apply, you can order GCMS notes or consult a Canadian immigration lawyer in good standing.

a) I agree with you that I must improve my SOP and make it more comprehensive. My employers had changed my contract to that of the "remote employee" so that I can work on my project and get paid as well during my studies. This contract is valid for two years till I complete my MBA. anyhow I will also take a reference letter from my employer. Yes, I had submitted the paid University tuition fees.
b) Okay. I will use my brother as my sponsor.
Yes, I do have relatives but at this point I dont want them to be involved.
Yes, I can tell my parents to declare testamentary will.

I have already lost Jan2020 intake. I took deferral for Fall2020 intake now. Yes, will apply notes and check for a lawyer as well.

Get the notes. I suspect the fact you are not a citizen in Qatar & dont have ties to India is the issue.
Yes. I have applied for the notes. Surely I will declare my ties in India as well now.
Thank you for your guidance and time.

your travel history seems fine. not sure why they rejected you but you should apply for the notes.

did you attach your company's promise that they will retain you/promote you after you grad? why did you pay 75% of the tuition fee instead of 1 full year?

idk what you mean by world's top 5... is it referring to qatar healthcare system or the company contracted by them? in either case it sounds like an extreme exaggeration.

when they say family ties they are worried you wont return to qatar. why? idk.
but with that company letter this issue should be resolved.
Yes. I have applied for the notes. Awaiting for it now.

No. I had not attached any employer letter ; but had attached my new contract as "Remote Employee " which is valid for next two years till I complete my MBA. Yes. I paid first year fee as required under SDS category.

In 2019, Qatar got ranked 5th in the world for health by the Legatum Institute, UK. and has only one government hospital which directly controls the entire healthcare system including PHCC and indirectly other private hospitals. The reason behind highlighting this was only to emphasis the fact that I would definitely continue my employment with them post MBA since it is world's leading system. ( a reason to leave Canada and come back to Qatar ) Anyhow, thanks for highlighting this fact, I would pen it out in a better way. :)

Yes. I will elaborate the facts properly in my SOP all the reasons to return to Qatar : my parents/family, my employers, and my business.

Thank you for your guidance and time.

Would suggest another MBA. Not a great quality which will not lead to the same employment opportunities as other schools.
Oh.. is it ??? Hmmm..
I have done my BBA in India ( 3 years of graduation ) which doesn't leave me with many options to choose from.
VIU and RR were the only options available.
Also I am not sure if I can cancel the VIU deferred admission without having a visa rejection in case I change my mind to do any other program like Master of Health Leadership and Policy (MHLP)

Hi , everyone!
After my visa rejection in Dec 2019, I had taken deferral of the MBA admission but now I have changed the plans to join the university. I am no more applying for study permit.

So can I cancel the deferred admission based on the visa rejection dated Dec 2019 or will I have to apply once again for the visa and then cancel the admission ? Kindly advice if you are aware of the procedure.

Thank you in advance.

Contact the school and tell them you are no longer interested in attending.
