Hi everyone. How are you guys doing?
I have quick question. My Dad had surgery done to install stent in the artery. Can I sponsor him ? Healthwise he is in good shape but taking medication after the surgery.
Shouldn't be a problem.

The ongoing medical costs are low. Just very standard medication.

Especially that you mention healthwise he is in good shape.

They picked up his narrowed coronary arteries on a screening stress test and angiogram? Or was he already having symptoms of angina? Or did he experience a heart attack?

He was experiencing little pain. Thinking it was not a big deal he ignored it. Then it worsens and saw a specialist finally. Angiography was done and stent was placed the same day, the Dr. did the angiography.

They will likely ask for a cardiac exam no matter what medical he is doing. Pretty common request for seniors with any form of cardiac issue.

Pretty sure PGP announcement was later on in December last year and there is never a guarantee when the announcement will be made. Could be January this year. It will be announced eventually.

Curious to see how they will prioritize who can apply this year since lottery and FIFO have been petitioned for and then rejected as bad options.

Double curious as well... But do you know for sure the lottery and FIFO are off the table? It does not seems they have something else at this time though. If they do have some other (and hopefully better) ways, they would have announced it with pride and joyfulness and earlier!!! LOLLOLOLO

It has to be either FIFO or lottery - there really aren't any other options.

Still like my idea of giving weight to time in Canada or time working in Canada. Many who are qualifying have only spent 3 years in Canada versus others who have perhaps spent decades and now want to sponsor their parents. The demand far outweighs supply so that would be the only way I could think to make the system more “fair”.

Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more on this.
And I think, this route will not take IRCC much times, they just need to modify the existing Comprehensive Ranking Score for Express Entry, change it and adapt it to PGP and voila, we have the deal!

How about Comprehensive Ranking Score, the one that currently applied for Express Entry. Modify it and adapt it to PGP, that's it!
IMO there is zero chance that will ever happen with a family class immigration stream. It's either going to be FIFO or lottery.

Really heh...
I am feeling like 1 year has long passed, but just like yesterday and we are here again, this time of the year, wishing, speculating, etc... toward this PGP...
GAME ON everyone!
