Is it possible to get LMIA in one week?

Hello

I talked to a consultant about immigration to Canada and he said it is easy to progress. I give him my resume and my wife's resume, and the next day, he said he found us two companies that willing to hire us.
Then he said the first step is to get us LMIA, and for that, he asks for a 650 CAD fee. He also claims that he can get LMIA in one week.

So, I just wondered is it possible to get it in one week?

More like 3-5 months by time an employer has paid a 1000 dollar fee and advertised the job to ensure no resident available. Sounds like a scam or at least agent will take your money and maybe go quiet before saying it fell through.

Ask the agent which industry the 'employers' are in and if they are providing any one of accommodation,food or flights. The agent may tell you they may not but if employers include any one of those it will be a scam as are job offers for hotels, construction, oil/gas and even farms

I agree. This is a huge pile of lies/fraud. It does however follow a familiar pattern.
I'm very glad to hear that you were not scammed this time, and got out fast.

Red flag #1: it is not, specially not in your line of work.

Red flag #2. This is pure fantasy.

Red flag #3, possibly the biggest one if the first two didn't set you off.

He also claims that he can get LMIA in one week.

Red flag #4, again, this is fiction. LMIA processing takes about 6 months.

Edited to add:

Red flag #5: Nope, jobs are not offered here in Canada over emails or instant messages. At the very least, you have to hear the voice of this person offering you a job, and people here don't hire anyone without talking to you first.

I'm guessing one reason these scammers do it over email and instant messages is so that they can multi-task, as a phone call also takes too much time.
