Well i emailed the high commision of canada in ja re my issue and this was their response:

Please be advised that Study Permit (SP) applications are processed by the High Commission of Canada within a service standard of 8 weeks.

The circumstances in your email regarding the police certificate has been acknowledged. You may opt to obtain the police certificate before you submit your application or you may wish to submit your application and then wait until the police certificate is requested by our office and endeavor to obtain the police certificate during the 8 week processing time.

This means that they require it, so i can either wait until i get it or submit without and submit when they request it. Either way dem want it.
8weeks? Damn! Four gone already lol

Well I know people who received it from June-July this year without a police record. So, I guess nothing is set in stone, and it’s different for some. Similarly, when a medical report is required for some and not required for others based on choice of study. But, maybe they were just lucky lmao. I would assume they could get that info from their side, but seeing it’s peak time now, they require you to submit one for quicker processing.

Hmm that's interesting. Person's applying from Jamaica? The medical report has an explanation, as you said it's based on the course of study. But there is no explanation as to why they would take some with police report and others without.

Here contemplating if i should submit today and then, as per their email send when they request it.

I would suggest to be on the safe side, just submit your document with police report to avoid any rejection. There is plenty of time for January Intake as long as you submit before november begins and as soon as you get your biometric letter, do it immediately since it is not part of 8 weeks time frame.

Update: i have submitted my application today without the police report. Went to their offices today and still nothing.
I sent in an explanation letter and supporting evidence.

The 8 weeks processing time is too long to not submit. If they need it they will ask for it. Has anyone else heard back?

Still waiting as well.
Applied on august 13th.
Passed medicals on the 23rd and gave biometrics on the 27th.
Unsure about when I should start counting....
