I don't know what is better FIFO or Lottery. This year i am sure if they have online its going to close in 5 min flat.
So much pressure to fill application like a super robot. If there is printed application submission no ways we gona make it on time.
So much to wait and see and they might scrap the program altogether to something which we don't know.

IRCC send a wrong message out there.
Now, people who failed last time are going to get together and file another lawsuit with even more numbers.
Which is why they are likely to delay the PGP in 2020.

See who the party in power is. Then decide the number of PGP slots. Or cancel the program.

Then how to give out the slots? Pure chance and luck ie lottery? Or FIFO? Or points based system?

It will take time. I wont be surprised if there is no 2020 PGP only to return in 2021.

Given that at longterm care centres are full and hospitals are at capacity or over with people in hallways not a bad idea to slow the influx of seniors into Canada as our population ages. My guess will be that they will weight the time in Canada to get replace the lottery or FIFO. Many who got accepted have only have been in Canada for 3 years. Best to reward longterm committment and tax contribution to Canada. We will have to wait and see.

Hello guys,

I was wondering since they need the past three taxable years as a proof of income, which years are these? Because for 2020 it should be 2019, 2018 and 2017. But on the other hand I was thinking that the intention is filled in January and usually we don't have this info by then, does this mean it would actually be 2018,2017 and 2016?
And the other question I have is - how do you prove this income? With the T4 forms or I have to ask for some specific documents from CRA?

Thank you,

It depends when you receive your invitation to apply (ITA). If you get it prior to getting your tax assessment (NOA) for 2019 then you send in your tax assessments for 2018 2017 and 2016. If you get your ITA after you have received your 2019 tax assessment then you will need to send in the 2019 2018 and 2017 tax assessments.

They use the notice of assessments (NOA) for proof of income.

Thank you nayr69sg and Dainik for your replies.

I understand what you guys are saying but I was more worried about the process of filling the "Interest to sponsor form" - you know, the one that is open just for few minutes and is basically a speed typing contest. I read that I have to upload a scanned document with a scan copy of the passport and a proof for the income for this past three years. For this form I am worried since last year the application window was open on January 29 and I don't think people are ready with their tax assessment so early. And here comes my question - which years people use and what paper should be used to proof? Also where to get these papers from?

Sorry if I mislead with my question in the beggining...

Thank you

In 2019, you didn't need to upload anything to prove your income for the interest form. You ticked a box to confirm you meet the financial requirements. No one knows what PGP will look like in 2020 so keep and eye on the CIC website for updates later in the year. They'll provide you with all the information you'll need for the form in advance.

LOL! Since they started with the electronic submissions of interest to sponsor forms, there has NOT been a requirement to submit any proof of income.

You just tick the box saying "I declare that I meet the income requirements".

Which is WHY you will see many people come to the forum with questions like "Oh I got a confirmation number. Now I have a question about the income requirements.......looks like I dont meet the requirements......so why did they let me submit the interest to sponsor form and give me a confirmation number?"

Whether the system will change in 2020, we don't know. I would actually prefer IRCC ask for proof, that way it will weed out more of the casual applicants who any oh how tick off declarations that they meet income requirements when they dont.

So if indeed they ask for the NOAs I think it would be a benefit to you. Just submit whatever NOA you have. Likely it will be 2018 , 2017, 2016 as usually they open for submissions in Jan or Feb of the year.

Frankly, I don't mind if they raise the income requirements also. May be controversial. But it will filter out a lot of applications.
