Is Transit Visa required at Rome FCO T1

Hi All,
My flight (Etihad) departs Abu Dhabi and there is a stop over at Rome FCO Terminal 1. Their is a change of flight at the same terminal (Aitalia) from Rome FCO Terminal 1 to YYZ (Toronto).

Do I require a transit visa?

I have similar situation. Travelling from India to YYZ (Toronto) with layover in Abu Dhabi and Rome. In Rome (FCO) there is a change in terminal from 3 to 1 (Ethihad to Aitalia).

Could you please let me know whether Visa is needed at FCO when you travelled? Also if you know about whether changing the terminal requires Visa, please let me know.

No you don't need a visa. You're staying airside. You're not going through immigration.

They did not ask for any transit visa. However at Rome airport information booth, they requested me to show Canadian visa and made an entry in their system.
Make sure that there is no change of airport during transit.

Thanks for a prompt response. Actually, I am traveling through Air India - Air Canada connecting flight. So I may need to collect my baggage and check-in again at Rome.
Was your case also the same? Also is it possible to do this without needing to exit the airport?

Mine was a single ticket so I collected my luggage directly at destination. As per my understanding, if PNR is same for both flight, luggage does not require check-out during transit if there is no immigration. But I would suggest you to get confirmation from your Airline.

I am also in similar situation. Most probably, a transit visa is not required. I am travelling on 23rd from Delhi to Montreal via Rome with 18.5 hr layover. U?

Travelled from India to Canada with 18 hr layover at Rome. It was Air India - Air Canada connecting flight. I didn't require transit visa.
