Hi guys
I’ve applied for a visitors visa from the U.K. and my normal processing times has passed 3 weeks ago! Reviewing of my eligibility has started basically straight away after I applied but now it’s been over 10 weeks and no response. I’ve heard that it’s possible to create a case specific enquiry but not advisible. Last time when I apploed I was waiting a lot longer than average processing times too but then a created an enquiry and got a refusal the next day , which I find very strange. Any opinions about this? Can your enquiry encourage them to refuse you ?

You can check the estimate days here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html
I ran this link, entered TRV, application outside Canada and UK. The result says 51 days. The result may vary.
In reality the number of days for processing depends on 3 factors
1. How you submitted your application? By paper or online? Online is faster than via paper.
2. When you submitted your Biometrics? The processing cannot be finalized without the Biometrics.
3. Influx of applications. Delay occurs if there are a lot of applications being processed.

I’ve heard that it’s possible to create a case specific enquiry but not advisible.
You can make an inquiry on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp It says you can use the link to ask about an application that has taken longer than the normal processing times.

The incident that happened to your might just be a coincidence. It is very unreasonable to reject someone for following up an application. When your application was rejected a refusal letter was given. That letter somehow gives you an idea on why your visa application was refused. Asking a follow up or question is never a ground for refusal.

Can your enquiry encourage them to refuse you ?
No. They refuse people's application because they did not meet the requirements to get a visa.

My biometrics appeared there straight away as I’ve done them before (I had applied before). I applied online and for me it’s been 68 days now which is longer than 51 stated on their website. I just don’t know if it’s a reasonable step for me to create an equiry.. since last time they refused me straight away after my enquiry hhhmmmm

There is an advisory on https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

This processing time tells you how long it took us to process most complete applications, in the past. Your application may be delayed or returned if it’s not complete.
Your processing time starts the day we receive your complete application and ends when we make a decision. It may vary depending on how many applications we receive.

Yes, but the main question is whether it’s a good idea to create an enquiry since it’s been a lot longer or not?
In http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp why would they say "ask about an application that has taken longer than the normal processing times" if this is not encouraged?
The decision lies on you if you do want to follow up or not. Either you wait or not. Again, people's applications are refuse because they did not meet the requirements to get a visa not because they made an enquiry.
