Hi everyone,

My wife and I are going to post our application tomorrow and I had a couple of questions before we do. I did a quick search and found some vague answers, so I'm hoping a fresh thread will provide us with some clarity.

  • We are applying outland as we both offshore. We want to send this by courier, am I correct in assuming that we are to send it to CPC Sydney, 49 Dorchester, Sydney, Nova Scotia?
  • Our application is the size of a small manuscript (as I'm sure you can all relate) but as the CIC websites says, no paper clips, staples etc. Are we to just put our application in the vessel it will be traveling in? Can we not use one giant alligator/fold back clip to keep it all together inside the package?

I think that's all for now. Like I said, I did a quick search, hoping for more clarity on these.

Thanks everyone!

Check the website for the addresses, it will tell you the one to use for outland applications sent by courier. As I recall, they mention not to use binders or anything, but paperclips are fine. I used paperclips to make three different "bundles" for our application. First I put the checklist and all the forms together and fastened them with a paperclip. Then I put all the civil documents in another bundle (birth certificate, passport copies, marriage certificate, etc). And then I made a third bundle with all the proof of relationship stuff. But I don't think you need to do that, it was more for me to be able to easily check I had included everything more than anything else. You can just put it in the envelope without doing anything to it.

Thanks for the reply!

We decided against paper clips as a whole. We just used one big bulldog clip for the application. We had a 400th look through it all last night and its pretty clear and concise. Sending it off this week! Fingers crossed for a quick turn around!
