Just got an email today about landing on 25th July...we are traveling 40 days after this date so we may not be able to wait for this late appointment date.Any news on landing interview front ?
'living in the province' in what status?Think you missing the point of my post. OHIP has separate residency requirements that you must meet even if you have a valid card. If you don't meet the residency requirements you are expected to reapply.
Who qualifies
To qualify for OHIP, you must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below plus at least one of the additional requirements.
To meet the minimum qualifications you must:
- be physically in Ontario for 153 days in any 12‑month period
- be physically in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after you began living in the province
- make Ontario your primary home
You must also meet at least one of the following additional requirements. You:'living in the province' in what status?
assume that the person on TRV, and applied for PR and OWP while in Canada and received OWP 3 months following his/her application and received PR status 10 months following his/her application, and now assume that 12 months has passed from the time of application.
the person :
is physically in ontario for minimum 12 months
holds OWP for last 9 months
holds PR for last 2 months?
And after OWP received the person had a period of full time (11 weeks only) and now working part time for last 2 months....
Can this person get OHIP...
I am afraid cannot....
I thought in the same way you have had "living in the province" as visitor that already applied for PR.You must also meet at least one of the following additional requirements. You:
- are a Canadian citizen
- are an Indigenous person (registered under the federal Indian Act)
- are a permanent resident (formerly called a “landed immigrant”)
- have applied for permanent residence, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has confirmed that:
- you meet the eligibility requirements to apply
- you have not yet been denied
What I understand from this is "living in the province" as visitor that already applied for PR. I might be wrong...someone correct me if I am...
This is the document that you need:I thought in the same way you have had "living in the province" as visitor that already applied for PR.
and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has confirmed that:
However when we went to Service ontario we have been told that we need to come back with PR. And it was the time we have already done our medical checks.
- you meet the eligibility requirements to apply
- you have not yet been denied
In my knowledge our application for OHIP should have started when we were having implied status.... ?
Thanks for the information. We finished landing of my daughter today at Thousand Island bridge. We were earlier planning get landing done at Etobicoke IRCC office but ran into a snag yesterday. We went to Service Ontario at Westdale mall and they refused to process my daughter's OHIP based on COPR. They asked for proof of landing. So we decided to finish landing today itself.Just got an email today about landing on 25th July...we are traveling 40 days after this date so we may not be able to wait for this late appointment date.
Hi Thanks for the information. Do we not need any appointments or such at Thousand Island Sarnia or Windsor? My son does not have a US visa at the moment. Will that be a challenge to complete the landing? Do they do landings on weekends? I have also written back to the Etobicoke landing email ID to check if they can process the PR card on an urgent basis if we decide to land on 25th and waiting to hear back from them. Based on what information we get back we can work out our next steps. Thanks for the information. We finished landing of my daughter today at Thousand Island bridge. If you want then you can finish landing at Thousand Island, Sarnia or Windsor.
No. You don't need any appointment for flagpoling. I know that 1000 island is 24 by 7 but you might want to check hours at Windor and Sarnia crossings.Hi Thanks for the information.
