NOC Code......

I got ITA on May 4th, and have been preparing documents to submit. When I created my EE profile, I used NOC 2173 (Software engineers and designers) for both of my jobs without reading the details of the job duties. Now I am asking my employers to give me the reference letter, and I discovered that 2173 does not really match what I have been doing although my job tiles are Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer for my previous and current jobs.

1) For EE FSW, can I use 2174 for my first job (from August 2014 to June 2016) and 2175 for second job (from June 2016 to present)

2) My second job title is Senior Software Engineer and I have been working on the Front End at an eCommerce company, mainly using javascript framework and libraries (jQuery, ReactJS, CSS, HTML), so should I use NOC 2175 Web designers and developers? Is it an appropriate NOC for a senior engineer title?

3) If I have to change NOC, I will need to decline the ITA. After declining, do I need to re-create a profile or use the old one and update the NOC?

Thank you very much.

Titles don't matter. The job duties are what's important. Make sure your duties match as closely as possible to whatever NOC you choose. You could be called Chief Awesomeness Officer (don't laugh, I've seen startups do this), and you could be a software engineer. Ignore the title.

You may not need to decline your ITA, btw. As long as your points don't go below the cutoff, you can update your NOC/Work history and provide an LOE that explains why you changed it. If your points do drop below the cutoff, then you should decline - you can update your profile and you'll be back in the pool

Thank you @21Goose, really appreciate it.

I think I might have to decline and re-apply, but am still struggling with which NOC I should use. I will open a new thread to ask for help.

Hi. I am currently creating my EE profile. i need clarification on my nearest, safest NOC code as my job duties and responsibilities fall under both 2174 and 2175. In short,
* My work generally goes around JAVA, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, NODE JS, XML, Android, Xcode, with MySQL and CouchDB knowledge.
* Mobile application development, Windows .exe development and user interface programming as well
* digital products interface, back-end and front-end programming.
* write, test, modify, maintain and integrate code
* communicate largely among back-end and front-end programmers and developers and also with customer supporting team for product update requirements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated from anyone who has come across my situation.
Thanks.

Hi, I'm also in the same boat as you. My job duties include fall under both 2174 and 215 but, most of my work includes developing web applications using backend programming language like Python and front end technologies such as HTML, Javascript, Django, and CSS. I also work with databases as well. Since I deal a lot with web applications I have chosen 2175 as my NOC code. In your case, if you deal with web site development then I would say you should go for 2175.

As I am into Android Application Development and software product development also primarily, I chose 2174. Anyway your reply helped me sort my doubts. Thank you.
Let's hope for the best.
