Hello everyone, I am a Canadian citizen living abroad. Can I sponsor my spouse if I have criminal record ?
I have pleaded guilty to 7 counts of B&E (break and enter in dwelling houses) charges and served 1 year and 8 months, paid all due fines. This charge is non violent however indictable offence with the max. lifetime imprisonment. This is my only offence and I am very worried about getting disqualifying for bing sponsor. Please advise ...

Sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had in the past. But that’s just it - it is in the past and now you are looking forward to the future. It is usually the charges that are violent or sexual in nature that could end up making you ineligible. I believe there is hope in your situation. It may be worthwhile consulting a lawyer if that is an option for you. If not, I think it is advisable that you provide as many supporting documents, around your charges, as possible. Let them know you’re not hiding anything. There are many people in other forums (primarily “sponsor with a criminal record”) who have a criminal record and have still been approved as a sponsor. You may want to check those out. I wish you nothing but peace, happiness and newness of life. Praying for your situation as I believe that God is a fixer of all things. Take care.
