You can read this thread. Looks like no one is really sure. Also it seems some think you need to meet income requirements for BOTH father and mother ie 2 persons plus yourself and family even if you are only going to sponsor One of them.

If parents are divorced, then you can sponsor them (and their new family) individually.

To sponsor any of them, you need to meet income requirement for your family + the applicant's family. (i.e. 1 + mother only) for the previous 3 years.
Then to sponsor the other parent, you need to meet income requirement for your family + parent under your sponsorship/undertaking + parent on new application plus any of his/her current spouse and dependents for the previous 3 years. ( 1+1 (mother) + 1 (father) + any of other dependents or spouse of father)
If OP only meet income for 2 in 2016, 2017, 2018 then OP needs to wait till income increase to meet for at least 3 2019, 2020, 2021 and apply in 2022. (if PGP still exist then)

Hi there, we got an invitation to apply and are doing it this week. My mother on a German passport is here in canada visiting me on a regular visa, we already extended once and that time is up end of August - so in total a year. Will she be allowed to stay in country whilst the sponsorship is underway? I dont want her to leave if she doesnt have to. And if she is, I assume I will need to pay another $100 to extend the visitor visa with the sponsorship as the reason? Thanks

If you want to extend her stay then you will need to pay the fee. There is no Guarantee if her stay will be extended as she had already extended her stay once. But you can try. It may take up to 2 years for Sponsorship. Keep in mind, she may need to get biometrics done and get police clearance from home country during the processing of the application.

Hi Guys, I have a question - for IMM 5669 - Q 6) Personal History -
Do we need to mention any travel that might have taken place. My mother did travel internationally several time but never > 6 months, in this situation should I give all this info ( at time its just for a couple of weeks.)

Similarly for address history, do we need to provide the address she stayed at while travelling abroad ?

Any help will be very appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I want to sponsor my parents to become permanent resident of Canada and I have already received the invitation from CIC to submit my application. I am a Canadian citizen living and working in Canada and I need to have my husband (who is also a Canadian Citizen) as the co-signer for this application. My husband's job has recently moved to the US and he is working there under TN visa status (NAFTA agreement). He travels to the US for work and comes back home (Canada) every other week for a few days to visit me and our child. He is keeping his Canadian residency, and is paying income tax both in the US and Canada.

I was wondering if he is eligible to be my co-signer in my parents sponsorship application even though his physical presence in Canada is limited.

I think he can co-sign as long as both your income ( his Canadian income ) meet the limit. For Canadian citizens the residency is flexible as long as income meets the criteria. PLEASE CHECK THE GUIDE ONCE

I put both bar codes (008 and 1344) right after the checklist but some people here have put each barcode on top of each correspondent form.

for signatures, no need to write the name (unless u print it in the first place) the important thing is to have it hand-signed as it is a requirement for the form to be considered complete

In Check list if I am providing the NOAs and T4s should I check the boxes? I chose YES in the application but as supporting documents I'm just putting the NOAs and Ts as well.

thank you for clarification. My though is exactly the same.... just a little hope for any other solutions guess I have to wait for a few more years

and if u consent for them to check with CRA u don't have to send NOA's as they will get all the info they need directly from CRA.
