Hi Guys,

I withdrew my application for Canadian TRV over the weekend.
Today I got the following response from them. what does it mean? Can my withdrawal be denied?

The reason I withdrew my application was I had made a mistake in filling out application ( in the background section)

+++++++++
A note has been added to your file to notify the responsible office that you wish to withdraw your application. Once the processing of your application begins, the office will determine if the application can be withdrawn and will issue a refund within 16 weeks of the withdrawal, if applicable.

If you have submitted your application with family members and you are the principal applicant, the office will also withdraw their applications.

Please note that the decision to withdraw an application is definitive, and that a new application will require the applicable fees.

We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.

++++++++++

Appreciate your time on this!

Hi,

The decision to allow you to withdraw your application is with the visa office even though you have initiated it.

I recommend you send a Case Specific Enquiry + an email to the relevant visa office for your country/territory to explain that you had inadvertently/due to genuine oversight/you misread the visa refusal question in the TRV form..... that it was a genuine mistake, that you have informed IRCC of your own accord, etc etc.

You'll need to mention your study permit refusal in the CSE and email.

Your visa office for communication continues to remain the same one which is responsible for your country/territory even though you have applied online.

If you aren't in a hurry, you'll need to wait for the visa office to confirm that your application has been withdrawn/your file has been closed (this could take a few weeks).... then order GCMS Notes just to double check the comments against your file before you submit a new application

Cheers

Thanks a lot for your reply Bryanna,
Today morning, I initiated another case specific inquiry using the IRCC web form and under the category "Replacement documents, Amendments to documents and verification of status documents": I wrote to them with the information about the mistake I made/How I made the mistake and the clarification on why my student visa was refused.

You mentioned "an email to the relevant visa office for your country/territory" is there a way for me to find out what VO is my application going to? I have applied online from United states and I haven't seen any mention of VO in my application status.

Also, are there cases where withdrawal is denied?
Are there any chances of me getting a misrepresentation or anything like that? I am kind of freaked out about how easy it is to make a mistake and pay such a big price. ( Sorry I have been asking way too many questions!)

Thanks a lot for your time!

Cheers

Fantastic. That's was the right thing to do.

If you are visiting the US, you can email either the NY/LA visa office (whichever one is nearest to where you are) + you must email the visa office for your home country..... if you have any other immigration status in the US then do email only the NY/LA VO.

I recommend you do this really quickly (as in NOW).

Also, are there cases where withdrawal is denied?
I haven't come across a case where the applicant was not allowed to withdraw his/her TRV application.

Do email the visa offices really really quickly.

As you've already informed IRCC through the CSE (and you will email them shortly), you are not running the risk of misrepresentation. Do order GCMS notes if possible

Don't worry :)

Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.
Can you tell me what should the subject line be, like a skeleton of the email?
Should I include my UCI? ( I am guessing an application number is a must too).

Thanks again Bryanna, you're a star!

You're welcome :)

The subject line could be: Additional information

The email must be similar to what you've written in the CSE. Yes, please mention your UCI and Application Numbers

@Bryanna I sent both the visa offices the email. I even got a reply from LA office saying they are not with online applications so they can't help with it.
I am guessing my case specific inquiry should reach the right person.

@Bryanna , I just got a request for original passport in email, I am not sure how it went through, As they already email me saying they put a note of withdrawal.
Email contents
This is in reference to your application for temporary residence. A decision has been made on your
application. We require your passport to finalize processing your application.

US visa offices process applications quite quickly. That's why I had suggested to email them ASAP. A CSE would take much longer to be noted in your file. No worries.

You must submit your passport. In all likelihood you'll get the TRV + you're safe because it's on record that you had informed IRCC about the study permit refusal on your own

It could take up to 8 weeks for the file to be closed. This, of course, is if the visa office allows the applicant to withdraw the application
Dear Bryanna,

I am from Iran (but my application process in Turkey-Ankara) I need to withdraw my application because of a technical bug of the CIC website which didn't include the biometrics fee so my payment was incomplete. I won't receive the biometric letter to start my process. I explained the issue completely here:

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/incomplete-payment-for-study-permit-visa-in-an-online-application.577464/#post-7158717

Now, my question is: if I request a web form for the withdrawal, should I wait for a reply? or Can I start a new application right away?
Does withdrawal negatively affect my next application? I mean is there any law declares that I have to wait for a period of time to start a new application after withdrawal? I should also mention that I am Winter 19 intake and the visa procedure for Iranian would take ~13 weeks. So I am in a hurry.

Thank you so much for your help.
