My wife’s parents will be visiting here in a few weeks. They got the TRV on the second attempt - first time only the mother applied but it was also 8-10 years ago.

Anyway, my wife’s wondering what kind of questions can they be asked at the airport?

How often do the TRV holders get turned back i.e. denied entry by the CBSA Officer?

Just nervous because of that original rejection 8-10 years ago. Going by the “Border Patrol” show on Discovery channel I know they get turned back for criminal convictions but that’s not a concern for us. How hard are the CBSA officers on parents etc.?

Hi,

Its not that bad/tough.
They generally ask if you know the address where you would be visiting, length of stay(if booked return ticket, keep it handy), who is supporting the length of stay, and similar questions.
Entry denied would be under certain circumstances like bringing in the things restricted or may be travelling with excess of money etc.
Note: If you have given the Invitation Letter, it is better to keep that handy along with updated Proof of Funds.

Good Luck

Thank you, that's very helpful!

I wouldn't have thought of keeping those documents handy because my wife applied for their TRV online and submitted all the documents from here in Canada. So her parents don't even know of which documents were submitted. Its definitely a good idea for them to have a copy of at lease some of the important documents (e.g. the invitation letter) handy.
