I have contributed to Canada Employment insurance for 1 year when I was on work permit and then went back to home country, applied for PR and got approval. Now if I go as unemployed to Canada with my PR, will I get Employment insurance benefit if I apply?

No - you won't. This situation doesn't meet the criteria for EI.

1. You need to have been employed in Canada in the last 52 weeks. You've likely been outside Canada for more than 52 weeks.
2. You need to lose your job through no fault of your own, like a layoff. The end of a term-limited contract is not eligible for EI in this way. Expiry of a work permit is not losing your job through no fault of your own.

Why did you leave the job ?
What does your ROE state for reason of leaving ?
Did your authorization to work end ? Expire ?

EI benefits for work permit holders are only payable while you have your work permit. Once your work permit ends, you are no longer entitled to EI benefits.

My work permit is still valid though although I have moved to my base location in India. Plus I have approved PR now. Plan is to quit the job if I move to Canada

Hmm..ok..thanks
Even Canadians who have assignments end are not eligible for EI. You need to lose your job through no fault of your own. Choosing to be employed in a job with an end date is not losing it through no fault of your own. The company needs to be laying people off.
