I'm not 100% sure, but I'm told that you don't to do so, as when you get your permanent SIN it is linked to your old SIN and the info is automatically sent to CRA by Service Canada.
Thanks @aasaf.
Yeah I heard the same thing. I may call them and ask to make sure. If I heard anything new, I will let you know as well.

I'm using UFILE to file my taxes return; however, it didn't allow me to file it electronically by NETFILE. I guess this is because of using the new SINs?

@Assaf @Mr_nobody , Could you please elaborate more on process and steps on when the new SIN is generated after PPR, and when you are good to go to change employer and work(considering cases for closed work permit holders)?

After getting your CoPR/Invitation-for-Interview, you need to land to validate your PR. Once your PR is validated, you can visit a Service Canada office to get a permanent SIN. You will need to give this new SIN to your employer, and probably your bank.

Hi guys. I haven't seen many people with their cases being processed at Montreal visa office but in general I've heard that Montreal is one of the slow ones. Is this an accurate observation? Any information is appreciated.

Try it with turbotax as well. I remember once I had problem with Ufile as well and then I start using Turbotax.

I have been trying to call them to ask them about SIN number change and a couple of other inquiries, but I haven't been able to access to an agent.

Hello,
Montreal usually deals with applicants residing in the US. Most of people on this forum are either in Canada or Iran, that is why you can't find many people with the same situation as you. However, there are other forums specific for Montreal, you can search for it if you have specific question.

Yes, Montreal office is usually slower than the Ottawa and Sydney, but is better than some of the local visa offices. For your cases, it seems that your case is not in Montreal anymore and it has sent to CBSA for SS. If that is the case, the office doesn't matter anymore.

I called them and they said everything is passed and the case has been sent for SS. So does it mean that once the SS is finished there's no more delays at the visa office? I was hoping to get my visa by June but now it seems to me that even if SS is done in the next few weeks I won't get my visa any time soon because the officer in Montreal is going to need some time to finalize my case.

Hey Ken,
Montreal was my primary VO at first. 4 months after AOR , it had been re-assigned to London Office because of workload. However its 3 weeks since I passed security and the rest of assessment and yet no decision has taken by London VO. Probably they sent it back to Montreal.

Hi Soheil,
Wow. That's really scary. I was hoping to get my visa before the anniversary of my AOR but looks like it's not gonna happen anymore. So your security ended exactly one year after your AOR right?

After reading most of the posts in Montreal thread, I've gathered that they're slow at getting to files but quick to finalize them. May I please ask how long it is that your file has sent to SS?

Yes. And I’ve been sent for SS and it took 100 days sharp. I had no military service , no red flag countries travel record . nothing.

The only thing I am curious : is it normal that final decision take couple weeks after security and all assessment passed? Or anything We should be worry about?
