Hi there,

CIC is asking for biometrics from middle east applicant (currently staying in Canada with family) for an outland spousal sponsorship. Medical already submitted but with a pregnancy deferral letter. What are these biometrics for? To remain in Canada?

They are required for all applicants, and the danger of an outland application in Canada. The applicant must leave Canada to have the biometrics conducted. Unless she has a valid US visa and is already in the US, she cannot have them done in the US.

There are no biometrics collection points in Canada for PR applications.

Whaaaaa??!! So can she leave Canada and then have them done at airport on her return back to Canada or at land border entry from USA? She is planning to visit the USA in the next couple weeks.

It has Rainbow Bridge, Peace Bridge, and TCCA, and Pearson terminal 1 and 3 on the list. Is this a mistake?
But the link mentions Canada international airports. It means we can get them done there?
Not a mistake, but she can't give fingerprints there if CIC is asking for them through an outland spousal application. On the side of those POEs listed, it says:
"Only certain students and workers are eligible to apply at a POE. Make sure you’re eligible before you go."

You are not eligible to give biometrics at a POE if you are applying for Canadian PR through spousal sponsorship.

Those entries are labelled "POE" which is Port of Entry. You can't give biometrics for spousal sponsorship at a POE, they have to be done at a VAC.

So if the applicant does not have a US visa, they have to travel back to the Middle East just for biometrics????

Is Barbados VAC ok to give biometrics? It appears on the website but says by appointment only. Hoping that doesn't mean 6 months out :-/

The website is very clear that there are no biometrics stations in Canada for most people. You need to pick a country that isn't Canada that has a VAC that can do biometrics that you can enter and then return to Canada.

Thank you.

I try to find a nearest place to go but such a pain though, I have just arrived here.
