What applications are processed faster?

To answer your question, no there is no way to ask for your application to be processed faster. There are many others awaiting approval who are in your same situation and worse. So it's processed on a first come first serve basis. And though the process is speeding up for some (6-7 months), quebec applicants are generally processed a bit slower.

Regarding the quality of living here, I can definitely agree that Canada (like any other country) certainly has it's flaws and is not for everyone. I've seen many people come here from less wealthier nations with high hopes only to leave because they couldn't get used to the different culture, weather and quality of life. So you are not alone in that thought.
I sense you are already hating it here and that could just be because you are stressed about the pregnancy, high medical costs and debt. My only advice to you is to seriously consider where you think you will be happy and everything else will work itself out :)

Hello,

well Canada is more expensive then Switzerland, because salaries are higher there and you pay less taxes, so you have much more money at the end.
And in Switzerland and also in Europe no family has to go into debt for having a baby. This is unheard of. And Canada is awful in this aspect, specially toward canadian men who marry foreign women. It is very unfair for my husband who had paid so many thousands upon thousands of taxes to Canada and Québec and now he has to pay for his baby to come to the world. While the government spends money on so many useless things that don't help anyone. More than a third of his salary is going towards taxes. And for what? Healthcare is bad here. Streets are in a horrible condition. Education is not among the best in the world either. And Québec specially is one of the provinces that had the most taxes in the world. Not in Canada, in the world. Sorry if I think Canada should improve in that and not make life difficult for families living, working and paying taxes here instead of punishing people for marrying someone not from here. And Québec too should lower it's taxes. Many other countries don't have so much taxes and have much better services. And if I believe nobody in the world should go into debt in order to have a baby! This is just evil! An abortion which is murder is cheaper than to give birth! And maybe you are just not aware, but Canadians are amongst the ones who have the highests debts in the western world. The average debt of a canadian us 22.000$. Also study in Canada is very expensive compared to Europe, where some of the best universities are.
And did you know, even giving birth for the royal family in England does not cost as much as giving birth in many canadian hospitals!
Perhaps since canada is so awful and switzerland is great you should move there. Perhaps before getting pregnant you should have done some research as to what the costs associated with it are. You are NOT a resident in canada and SHOULD NOT be entitiled to health benefits that us taxpayers contribute to... as others have mentioned being pregnant in NO WAY speeds up your processing.

Y'know, I had to do some research there and it turns out you are right, overall (besides a wealth tax and higher property taxes) people in Switzerland pay less taxes. Learned something new today.

Besides that, I'm sorry you feel that way about my home. There are things that are obviously up for discussion and things that we all feel should be different but I love my country very much. I had a friend who lived in Switzerland for a very long time and did not like the high cost of living, the ridiculous rules and structure, extremely high cost of childcare, etc. Every country has their flaws and so does yours.

I think coming onto Canadian forums and bashing Canada isn't the best idea. We are all here to assist or are helping someone come here and criticizing everything is not going to help you (or your mental health) one bit.

Thanks for your input.
Hello,

actually I am not Swiss, I am Spanish and I apologize if you felt I was bashing Canada or got offended. Actually I was just saying what I think is not good about Canada and I would say that of any country, no matter if it's my own or the one I am living or any other one for that matter. I think Canada is a beautiful country and has many good things. And if

Hello,

I am not a resident yet, but I will be.
My husband is Canadian and my baby is going to be Canadian, so my husband has paid more then enough taxes for Canada and for Québec in order to not having to go into debt just to have a son. And I will afterwards also have to pay a lot of taxes. They even now wanted to know how much I made last year before coming to Canada, when my husband and I filed our taxes this year together, even if I am not a resident yet.
I am also already paying sales taxes for all the things we buy here.
It is not my right to be entitled to health benefits, but it should be my husbands right to not having to pay for his son being born in Canada as he has paid many taxes already for that and he has worked and works very hard and the federal and provincial governments take more than a third of his salary. This is a lot of taxes.
Yes, we should have been more informed, but my husband assumed he could include me in his insurance, but they don't, and he was very shocked and disappointed also to know he has to pay, since he is Canadian and we married in Canada and I am not a resident yet, because the process of becoming one is not fast.
We accept that we have to pay, but the government of Canada should not be punishing its residents and citizens for falling in love and marry someone foreign and than having children.
And I al not a separate entity. I am his wife. We as husband and wife are one.
So my husband has the right to get something useful for all the thousands upon thousands of taxes he has paid during all his life since he started working, which is like 10 years ago.
Besides that, being pregnant is a natural thing. It is not a health issue nor is it a sickness and in my opinion nobody should have to pay nowhere in the world for having a baby, which is a blessing.
But we accept that things are how they are and I see there is nothing we can do about it, so we will pay.
I just hope the government stops trowing away taxpayers money in useless stuff that doesn't bring any benefits to anyone and that they start spending it on their citizens and give them also something of quality back, which is what my husband and all other Canadians deserve.
And the health care system should't be provincial, but federal.
As an example out of many:
A Canadian woman from B.C. moved with her husband and kids to Newfoundland (her husband was born there) and only because she is a student, she won't get any health care coverage in Newfoundland for kidney stones or something similar! Even if she and her husband pay all their taxes in Newfoundland and they moved there permanently! And she is Canadian! And B.C. didn't want to cover her either at first, but then they said they do. So now she maybe has to go spend thousands of dollars just to fly to B.C in order to get the operation! And she probably will have to go alone.
So is that fair to you? To me this is a huge injustice to that family and I feel sorry for them! Nobody should go trough such an awful situation having paid so many taxes to the federal and provincial governments. Nobody in any country should have to go into debt for giving birth or for being sick. That is just pure greed.
And there are some countries where nobody has to go into debt to get medical treatment.

And did you know a natural birth of the royal family in England costs less than the 10.000$ a Canadian natural birth costs on average?

Thank you anyways for your reply and all the best.

You continue to perpetuate this belief that no one in Europe has to pay to give birth and all European countries grant healthcare to visiting foreign national spouses. Stop. That is completely untrue.

You also continue to blame others, such as the Canadian government, for your failure to actually spend 5 minutes researching whether you qualified for healthcare before getting pregnant.

Agree completely.

I don't think there's any country on this earth that will pay for healthcare to visiting foreign citizens spouses

I'm a dual Swiss & Canadian national myself and I know Switzerland will definitely won't pay.

Do some research into what taxes go into in your community alone... sure we hear about useless spending but you have no entitlement simply because youre married to a canadian. Just stop your attempt at arguing here. Youre not going to get sympathy the way youre going on and on.

Your Canadian child will actually get health care. If your husband was also not a resident you would have to pay or any NICU costs or peadiatrician check. Labour and delivery is your medical care so not covered. You always have the option of returning to Europe if you don't want to add to your debt. Your husband can get medical care for his 10 years of work. Adults are viewed individually. The british royals certainly pay more than 10000 CAD. They give birth in a private hospital with their own private doctor (maybe 2) available for only them plus 2 midwives. They may also have an anesthesiologist on standy just for them and maybe an operating theatre. Not to mention the cost of extra security.

Not everyone who lives in Switzerland is wealthy. Many struggle to live in Switzerland. Literally just sent someone baby clothes because clothing and baby items are so expensive. It was in a suitcase so shipping not included.

Spain and Portugal do. Nobody there needs to pay in order to give birth.
But it's ok, I accept that things are how they are and we are still happy to have our baby which is the most important thing.
We will pay and move on.
