Hi,

In my file which i submitted last week, i include 10 pages of whatsapp conversations

The issue is, although we had used the english alphabet, we were speaking in punjabi (i.e. writing punjabi words using english alphabet).....

Is this going to be an issue?

Can i send an "update" to my application before i have it returned :(

It may or it may not be. It's possible it will just not be used for proof of relationship. The guide is relatively clear that everything is to be translated. I doubt they'd return the entire application unless this is all the proof of relationship you had.

Sadly, I used a representative to fill my application (she has also done for others). but i want to be 100% safe... I only sent it last week

Does it have to be someone certified or can a friend do it for me and sign that they have done the translation? I am looking at rates and some are charging $25 per PAGE, so $250 for a translation....

if i get it translated this week and send in the update ASAP, will that be okay? I dont want to wait 2months to have my application returned then submit again....

Yes, I’m sorry, this is an issue, because they are pretty clear about how you have to submit documents that are not in English or French. You can read their instructions in the complete guide. Also, I’m sorry, but I don’t know if you can send an update before they contact you. I don’t think so. But if you have more proofs of your relationship, then, they won’t take care about your non-English/French document and they probably would check other proofs.

"Translation of documents

You must submit the following for any document that is not in English or French, unless otherwise stated on your document checklist:
  • the English or French translation; and
  • an affidavit* from the person who completed the translation (see below for details); and
  • a certified copy of the original document."
*Translators who are certified in Canada don’t need to supply an affidavit. A certified translator will provideboth a certified translation and certified copies of theoriginal documents.

You can read about translation of documents here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5289-sponsor-your-spouse-common-law-partner-conjugal-partner-dependent-child-complete-guide.html#link

... thank u for this information..

I read a bit further and the "Certified true copies" section...
I did not get any documents certified. My wife's passport is photocopy, along with other documents....... I think i have been scammed by my representative....

I am so sorry, but you still can do it by yourself. I suggest you to read the simple and the complete guides. They really help you a lot. For passport, if it is in English or French, you do not have to translate it, they just want photocopies and they do not need to be certified. For birth certificate, they ask for government-certified copies (signed and sealed/stamped), but these specifications depend on your country requirements in your checklist. Do you know how to get your checklist?

If your representative is not certified as an immigration consultant, you likely have been.

Indian passports r in english n most of other documents too. So no need of translation, translate only if document is in pnjabi or other language except eng or frnch

I’m not sure if you should send a new application. I don’t think they would like to accept a new application if they had already received the other one. I would wait until they reply. But, I’m sorry, for sure, I don’t really know, why don’t you google it and see what it appears. *update: I found this https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/mistakes-on-application-forms-that-have-already-sent.411250/

hello,
I am about to submit the application and unfortunately, the checklist is updated where they require translation for chat logs. We have conversations in English but in many places, we have been using short forms like Gn - Good Night, tc - Take care..
I am not sure if this okay, as the requirements have been updated for translation and I guess VO would go through the chat logs attached

Hi,
Hope all are doing well. I have a question related to translated documents. I got the watsap conversation translated in english, however the original chat pages (local language) have not been stamped (true certified) by the translator. He stamped and notarized the translated pages and left the original chat pages which i gave him to translate as it is. Will it be an issue. His argument is that he considering the chat pages as original and not copies and he says that it doesnt need to be true certified. Please let me know if anyone has send the original chat pages without true certified stamp.

Thanks and Regards,
Ahmed.

Hi

I am in the process of applying but confuse about the certified proof of contact?
Did you end up translating and certifying your conversation?
