TRV - Multiple entry - No specific trip in mind

Hi,

I read a lot on the forum but first time I am posting.

I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is Thai. We live together in Thailand for the last 5 years and we had a child together.

My wife has no job and no assets, I have a good income and a good financial situation.

I would like to get a multiple entry Visa for her to be able to go back and forth without the need to get a Visa. I understand that a multiple entry Visa with a valid date up to the passport expiration date can be obtained; but It looks like is up to the CIC.

We are not planning to immigrate to Canada now, but It is a possibility in the future, I do not have a problem then to ask for a permanent residence

My question is:

1 - Can I ask a multiple entry Visa without specifying a specific trip?

2 – If I cannot, can I give a specific date for a trip and places to visit without copy of booked plane ticket and hotel reservations? I do not want to book anything in case the TRV request is turned down.

3 – What if on the TRV request I explain that I want to keep my option open like I explained earlier in the post?

Thanks.

1. It's not advisable to request for a multiple-entry visa. The visa officer will determine whether or not your wife should be granted a MEV.

2. You don't need to book confirmed plane tickets nor make hotel reservations. You should provide flight itineraries and hotel reservations (not charged to your credit card). These proofs will suffice.

3. Do restrict her TRV application to one specific visit with clear visit dates + a clear visit plan.

IMO, your wife has slim to none chances of a TRV approval especially if you request for a MEV... or if you state you would like to visit often.

The chances of her TRV approval depends on the strength of your documents to prove that you will return to Thailand (indirectly implies that she will leave with you)
