Hey Guys!
Glad to have a UK thread. Been driving myself mad with the wait. Especially given that most FSW inland and FSW outland - india seems to be the most popular.

So my timeline is as follows;

6 October: AOR
Meds (actually completed in August) approved : October 2018
Biometrics letter received : 03 November 2018
Biometrics completed and transmitted: 29 November 2018

No update since. The 6 month deadline is 6 April 2019 which is now 9 weeks away.
I think my application is fairly straightforward ( just me and my husband).
I was under the impression that one could only order GCMS notes in Canada?

Any advice, whinging and discussions

We are from Germany and went through all the process and the waiting almost over the last 2 years from the start of our application under the
Ontario PNP up to receiving the PR card now.
So it's FSW - O and we had our AOR on 12-12-2017.
Needed to postpone the completion of the medicals because of our newborn.
Got medicals completed on 01-March-2018 and received the COPR on 18-April-2018 from the Visa Office in Vienna.

We never were in a rush and had time and didn't stressed ourselves, but you need to be very very patient.

We did our landing on 08-Sep-2018, got a new photo request on 31-Oct-2018 (since our photos were older than 6 months, used them for the COPR application). We received the PR card on 28-Jan-2019.

There are companies that submit GCMS request on your behalf, getgcms.com is an example. I'm waiting for my 1st set of notes, my AOR was July 3rd and still no update beyond Meds and background check started on July 18th. I've raised CSEs but had generic responses so far.

I held off raising queries or notes until 6 months, it's fairly out of your control either way, but you can learn that it's been approved before email sent which can provide relief. Agents that answer phones and respond to queries can't do anything to move file along.

Good luck and I hope we all get PPR soon!

Hi all,

Glad there’s a few others from the U.K, applied from Scotland as a single applicant so I naively also assumed it would be straight forward.

AOR: October 20th - FSW
Meds passed - November 20th
Biometrics reiceved and completed December 1st.

Still not too worried at the moment as only just over halfway though the timeline for expected decision of April 20th. Not considering bothering with GCSM notes yet until if I’ve not heard anything with less than a month to do. At the moment no updates since biometrics was complete.

On a side note, my background status has said in progress since the moment of APR, so this clearly isn’t accurate.

Thank you for the tip. I'll be requesting them after the 6 month mark, for sure.
It's so frustrating just waiting. I thought with the progress bar it would be clearer what has gone on, but the bar is useless.

Keep in contact guys!

Hi, my background check has been in progress since MEP on July 18th, did you live/work in Canada before? I had IEC visas some years ago and assumed it was to do with that as I wasn't required to provide a Canadian PCC despite living there for 2.5 years.

Nope, never lived or worked in Canada. I have visited 3 times within the last 2 years however only for 2-3 weeks at a time so don’t think that will have any bearing on my application.

I had read it sets as that as default (background checks in progress) for countries that require biometrics, but unsure if that is actually true or not. Either way, I have a feeling nothing has actually started on my application other than the medical and biometrics updating.

Yeah, my background check was in progress before I even submitted biometrics so I'd agree it's not relevant to much.

Have y'all decided where you plan on living yet?

Hey,

As a family we have spent the last six months travelling from Toronto to Vancouver Island. Found lots and lots of lovely places in between and happy to share experiences if people are interested. Obviously we were hoping to be settled by now, hence my occasional frustrations, but what will be will be.

We are looking for a small town somewhere near national parks, canoeing, skiing etc, but having visited so many places that tick the box, where we end up will really will depend where jobs are when we get the PPR.

P.s my background check is still showing as not started - I am just simply hoping that isn’t the case!!!

We're hoping for West coast (Vancouver or possibly Calgary) but we love Toronto too, you?

Something is bothering me, so we did our medical on 31 August 2018 and I read that they're only valid for 12 months. Which means that we need our PPR/COPR and to have landed in the country (for visa stamping etc etc) by August 2019 to avoid another medical. We're not actually planning on moving until 2020, but did want to coincide a trip to action the PPR/COPR and stop the medical deadline with a holiday.
Trouble is, that only leaves 4 months from the 6 month processing deadline (April). Getting kinda worried about it! Do you guys think realistically that this will work?
I felt for sure that we would have an answer within 6 months.

You will need to make your first landing before your medical expires, for sure. Then to return you'd need to apply for a PRTD I guess? Unless you were there long enough to get your PR card but that sounds unlikely based on what you're saying about your intent.

For us, It's Toronto but probably not anywhere else unless work opportunities arise somewhere like Ottawa. Wife's family and friends are all in Montreal, so she wants to be able to travel easily to visit at short notice and I have zero intent to live in Quebec (its great but I don't speak nearly enough french to maintain my quality of life financially =P)

Yes you can go and activate PR. You can provide address of a trusted friend or relative to receive your PR card. Once the PR card is delivered to them they can send it to you and you can come back in 2020 when you want to settle

That was the original plan! my husband is chomping at the bit with the thought of paying for new medical if they go over on the estimated time frame...

Are you guys all going with jobs or looking when you get there? I currently working for the medical regulator in the UK and although I wouldn't be able to work for the Canadian regulator (my French is non-existent) I probably could work for the College's. I've kept an eye out of their job page and they seem to come up regularly.

I loved Montreal and Ottawa, but fell in love with the West. =] hope we all get an answer soon.
I have to say this thread has eased my peace of mind.
