You won't have any problems. You can go to Canada since you already have the visa. If you come in early (a few weeks or couple of months before your classes starts), just be sure that you show CBSA enough funds to cover those extra weeks/months before your classes starts. When you got your visa, did you get any conditions in it that says you can only come in certain number of days? If not, then its only rumor since I also did not get such condition on my visa.
