NOC not matching Education

Hello All,
I am living and working in Canada with a work permit. My current NOC (and previous NOC) require an education level I do not have. I was previously working in the United Kingdom and there the education level required for my job was lower than in Canada. I gotten the job in Canada due to my work experience that was important to the employer rather than education.
As my education level does not match my NOC, I believe express entry is not possible and I need to go through the experience class stream. Is this correct? Did anyone else have the same experience?

In the Express Entry Profile there is a specific question that asks WHEN did you become qualified for the NOC. If you select the table of NOC (with all details), it will state what are the educational requirements for you to be seen as qualified according to Canadian standards.

That’s when you obtained your university degree. In case you don’t have one, you may state the date you first took a managerial role in this field. The official website clearly states that one doesn’t need to meet the education requirements to qualify for points under the specific NOC chosen.

Senior manager NOCs usually require job descriptions with supervisory roles.

Minimum work experience requirement
The applicant must have accumulated at least one year of continuous full-time (or the equivalent in part-time) paid work experience in the occupation identified in their application for permanent residence as their primary occupation. In calculating this period of work experience, the occupation must be listed in skill type 0 (Managerial occupations), skill level A (Professional occupations) or skill level B (Technical occupations and skilled trades) of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2016 [R75(2)(a)].

The applicant’s skilled work experience must also

• have occurred within the ten years preceding the date of their application for permanent residence; and
• not be in an occupation that has been designated as a restricted occupation.

Note: At the time of publication, no occupations were designated as restricted.

In addition, during that period of employment, the applicant must have

• performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R75(2)(b)]; and
• performed a substantial number of the main duties, including all of the essential duties, of the occupation as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R75(2)(c)].

Note: The applicant does not need to demonstrate that they meet the “employment requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description.

Can i ask for help and clarification? My concern now is that my experience in the NOC of being Pharmacist doesnt match with my current experience. For i graduated BS Pharmacy and took MS Pharmacy, but i work as a University Professor. When i look now the NOC for university professor, it doesnt qualify me for it needed PhD for education requirements. I only took until Masters. do you think i can take risk the express entry being a Unviersity professor and not as a Pharmacist in NOC? Thank you. In choosing NOC, which one will i follow, experience or education attainment? Thank you

You can still apply with NOC 4011. I'll suggest you downgrade from professor to lecturer since you only have a masters and not a PhD. If you want to remain in academia while in Canada as a professor, you'll have to upgrade your qualifications to PhD.

It's OK if your masters was gotten outside Canada. In fact, this is the case for most applicants.

Another question, what if i dont have yet the license from the pharmacy examining board of canada, am i still qualified to be university lecturer? I only have my professional license outside canada. Thank you

Hold on, you're dealing with two NOC here (1) pharmacist (2) lecturer. You need to be careful while writing your reference letter.
A person who has a degree in pharmacy but works in a university as a professor or lecturer is considered a professor/lecturer and your reference letter should match that of a professor/lecturer in which case you will not need a license from the pharmacy examining board (confirm this).

If however you want to work as a pharmacist, you work reference should match a deferent NOC (i'm not sure if this is possible since you said you work in the university as professor/lecturer). In this case however, you will need a license from the pharmacy board in Canada. Now, you can get a PR without this license but when you're in Canada you will not be able to work as a pharmacist until you get this license, which is possible.
