Hello everyone,

I have a specific situation with my work experience in Canada and I'm not sure if I can use it for the Express Entry application.

Came to Canada in July 2016 as a part of the co - op program called Study & Work. I was eligible to work part - time (20 hrs/week) till January 2017 and then full-time (40 hrs/week) for 480 hours.

My visa expired in September 2018 so I left the country but received Working Holiday visa right after and came back to Canada in January 2018, being here since. The summary looks liek this:

August 2016 - August 2017: Personal Trainer at the YMCA of Greater Vancouver (NOC B: 5254), part-time, part of the Study & Work Program

September 2017 - January 2018: staying outside of Canada

January 2018 - present: Personal Trainer at the YMCA of Greater Vancouver again, part-time, working on Working Holiday permit.

My question is - can I use this work experience in my Express Entry application even if it was part of the co - op program and it wasn't continuous?

Thank you all.

Adam

The one year continuous is for FSW. If for FSW you have one year continuous in one NOC MINIMUM, you can add other jobs as well. The don't all have to be a minimum of one year. What stream are you applying to?

FSWP demands to have a minimum of at least 1 year of continuous experience, either as a full time or equal amount in part-time. But it has to continuous. Plus all the experience gained in Canada other than a valid work permit wouldn't count towards points.

However, if you wish, you may give it a try by creating an EE profile and submitting it.

Thanks, I want to apply for FSW. I do have a year of continuous work experience but unfortunately it was a part of the co - op program which (according to the cic website) cannot be used as a work experience...
