I passed my medical on the 3rd of this month and my background check has been on Not Applicable ever since. When can I expect to receive an answer? Please help, I'm getting very worried. I'm supposed to be there on the 25th of this month. It's for a study permit.

Similar situation and tight timelines as my classes start from 27th Aug.

Ours was paper application from Tanzania. University has No Deferral policy

If you have applied from india, background check is not applicable for you. That is, there are no background checks for Indian students. You pass the medical if you have given upfront medical, wait for some time (anywhere from 4-9 weeks since the date you applied), and then you get an approval or rejection message on your portal. No background checks.

OH wow okay. I did not know about that. Do you have any idea about how long (approx) it takes to get a reply after passing the medical? I assume I won't get a PPR since it's an offline application.

It's not fixed. Where is your file being processed? Bangalore consulate is processing within 35 days, so you can expect in the next week or so. Delhi is erratic. But usually Delhi is processing files in 35-45 days. Chandigarh consulate no idea.

Good Luck!

Mine is at Bangalore
So I guess I'll wait a while longer before I panic. Thank you so much!
