I got an invitation to apply for a permanent residence under Canadian experience class.

I am applying from outside canada(India).

Do I need to proof of funds ? Or no ?

You do not need to provide PoF, since it is CEC.
You should provide a Letter of Explanation(LoE), mentioning that. Please check the response of @DelPiero07 in the link below
