MPNP - Relation Option To select

Hi Team,
I am the primary applicant to MPNP.
My spouse's first cousin is in Manitoba, who is our sponser. On my application, please suggest if I should select him as a distant relative for me and first cousin for my spouse or, can I also select first cousin against t my relation to the sponser.
If I select him as a distant relative, will it impact my scoring and approval ?
Please advise.
