Then that would be another question, because of the out of status, so OWP would be refused, why not apply restoration now? Then the OWP may get it.If the visitor extension is refused, you will be out of status and have 90 days from the date of refusal to apply for Restoration. The OWP would be refused because of the lack of status. You could apply for Restoration directly with the OWP or apply for Restoration as a visitor and then apply for the OWP once visitor status has been restored.
So basically, I’m kinda screwed, cause I can’t do anything about it right now, just wait and hope for the best with my visitors visa app, is that right? If it’s denied, I lose status. That’s when I file restoration of status. It might come in in time before OWP decision is made but if not OWP is denied and I have to reapply for OWP. This puts me back into the que again, and another 4 months of waiting time... is this how it is?Yes.
You can't apply for Restoration when you have valid status. Then that would be another question, because of the out of status, so OWP would be refused, why not apply restoration now? Then the OWP may get it.
Yes. Provided you showed sufficient proof of funds and explained that you were applying for sponsorship, there should be no issues with the visitor extension. So basically, I’m kinda screwed, cause I can’t do anything about it right now, just wait and hope for the best with my visitors visa app, is that right? Thanks for the reply, unfortunately not what I was hoping forHi there!
It's definitely way too early for the medical exam. These tend to happen at the end of the process, closer to when you actually get the PR.
From what you've told us, I think it's quite unlikely you'll get the PR by Nov 1. March 2nd to Nov 1st is under 8 months and currently the average processing time is 12. If you're from the US, that might help and lower your processing time. On the other hand, you're applying common law which is more difficult to prove and can sometimes drag on a bit because they ask for additional proof and/or interviews.
The PR card thing is for the literal physical cards - it means it'll take around 45 days to get the card after you've completed the landing process (which happens after your PR application has been approved).
Basically, it could happen, but it's unlikely. The majority of apps fall into the 11-13 months range, if looking at the different spreadsheets here, as well as the official site giving a 12 month average.
As for being contacted, now that I've gotten my OWP, I don't expect any correspondence for pretty much months to come, just to give you an idea.
Hang in there!
Thanks. I don’t remember specifically explaining that I applied because of sponsorship, was I supposed to write a separate letter with the application?Yes. Provided you showed sufficient proof of funds and explained that you were applying for sponsorship, there should be no issues with the visitor extension.
Huh, I never had that question on mine. OWP + Restoration is in one form, imm5701. There's no other form for the restoration.
No, there's no Restoration form. You will only use imm5710. One form for OWP and Restoration but you will tick Restore Status as a Worker AND Initial Permit.can you send me a link of your form? i have that question on imm 5708e / is that the restoration form?
On the very last item on imm 5558 checklist listed as proof of financial support. what sort of document did you put in?can you send me a link of your form? i have that question on imm 5708e / is that the restoration form?
but i didnt come to canada as a worker tho. i had visitor status. what forms did you submit when submit your restoration? 5701 for owp and another 5701 for restoration of status? No, there's no Restoration form. You will only use imm5701. One form for OWP and Restoration but you will tick Restore Status as a Worker AND Initial Permit.
Even if you were on a visit permit, you may restore your status as a worker. I was on a study permit and I restored my status as a worker. Please see: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/visitors/restoration-status.htmlbut i didnt come to canada as a worker tho. i had visitor status. what forms did you submit when submit your restoration? 5701 for owp and another 5701 for restoration of status?
Sorry I've been making a mistake by saying imm5701 instead of imm5710.but i didnt come to canada as a worker tho. i had visitor status. what forms did you submit when submit your restoration? 5701 for owp and another 5701 for restoration of status?
There is a question asking why you are extending. That would have been the place to say "applying for spousal sponsorship".Thanks. I don’t remember specifically explaining that I applied because of sponsorship, was I supposed to write a separate letter with the application?
so to sum it all up. all i need to do is fill out one imm 5710 and check restore status as a worker and initial work permit ? add the explanation why i lost my visitor status? i wondered about that because there is a restoration form imm 5708. so all in all i just have the spousal sponsorship forms and the one 5710 for to send? is this correct?Even if you were on a visit permit, you may restore your status as a worker. I was on a study permit and I restored my status as a worker. Please see: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/visitors/restoration-status.html
I submitted just ONE imm5710 for both OWP and Restoration and paid $255 plus $200. If you can download the said form, you will see what I meant with choosing Restore Status as a Worker and Initial Permit.
