Hello there,

In British Columbia, if one of your family members is a PR or Citizen, does the rest of the family have the right to healthcare? Or is that not allowed in British Columbia?

Not also PRs of Canada, but close family, spouse and dependant relatives.

As per the link from a family viewpoint only spouse and dependant children who are themselves PRs or citizens resident in BC. The only exception being if the spouse or children have a PR application in process at the time they are residing in BC. Family members outside this are not eligible unless they qualify on their own.

What is the province with the most generous regulations? I read the Ontario NDP platform and they said that if they came to power they would allow a PRs dependants to get healthcare. The situation I am in is that I haven't met my PR obligation, in case you wanted to know. I want to return to Canada and I know that I need to return through the US -Canada border. I have another few questions too. How do you get access to healthcare if you are a PR and haven't met the residency obligation? I have a Health and active SIN number. If you are reported at the border, what are the chances of managing to maintain your PR? I have a significant amount of ties to Canada. Also, are there any benefits for my family in the two years that I need to to remain there? For example, PR and Citizen tuition fees.

Campaign platforms rarely actually get implemented. If they do it would likely take years and giving healthcare to visitors will be very unpopular so doubtful it will happen.

Your other questions all depend on province and school district. Do you have a valid PR card? Valid health card?

You pay out of pocket and get insurance for emergencies.

How much will it cost? Could I be reported if I go to the doctor for a minor infection/cold? Also, is it possible for my children to get the price of tuition fees for Canadian PRs and citizens for university?

No they will have to pay international tuition if they aren't PRs or citizens. How long have you been out of Canada? The doctor will not report your family. Costs all depend on how many times your family goes to the doctor and which doctors plus what tests are required.

I have been out of Canada for 2 years. I got my PR in 1989 and haven't met the residency obligation and have been in and out of Canada and haven't been reported. I did an ATIP and I checked everything and I am still a PR.

What is the expiry date on your most recent PR card? How have you been entering Canada?

I don't have a PR Card, I have a confirmation of PR document. It expired in 1994, but I then travelled back frequently and managed to keep it. I entered via plane in August 2016, before the mandatory requirement to apply for an ETA, which me and my family didn't as I heard it may effect my PR status.

It is quite crazy that you have slipped through so many times. Actually more scary than crazy. I assume you were presenting your UK passport and saying you were a UK citizen. You have been extremely lucky. You don't qualify for an ETA if you have PR.
