Hi,

Me and my boyfriend are struggling with a lot of issues and I hope someone will help us to find the answers.

I’m from Poland. I had been working in Canada under “working holiday” IEC program for a year, then left for 4months, stayed again as a tourist for 6months and now it’s been 4months that I’m away.
He’s Canadian, he lives in Toronto.
I got pregnant and we’re planning to get married so I can move to Toronto with him.
I know that after getting married we can apply for a PR for me but I’m aware that it takes 12-24months to get it.

The question is can I get OHIP while waiting for PR? How long it takes? (Cost if giving a birth in Canada is extremely expensive)

Should we apply inland? If I’m on tourist visa, can I overstay as I’m waiting for PR? Can I travel in and out while waiting?

Is it better to apply outland? If yes can I still travel in and out?

Any help appreciated!!

You won't get OHIP while waiting. So if you want to give birth in Canada, assume you'll need to pay for everything out of pocket.

Also note that you won't be able to complete the medical required for PR until after you give birth. The medical requires an x-ray and the majority of doctors advise against getting an x-ray while pregnant since it can harm your unborn baby.

Since you already have 1 year work experience, you might qualify for PR under Canadian Experience Class, much faster than spouse sponsor.
Inland vs outland is almost the same. You can travel in and out of Canada.

Unless you're very early in your pregnancy (1-2 months at most), and can apply for PR through CEC soon, chances of getting OHIP coverage before giving birth are very slim. As said in the post above, you'll still need to go through X ray for chest.

I think OP is at least 4 months pregnant given it's been this long since she's been in Canada with her boyfriend.

Have you calculated how many points you have under the Express Entry system? Have you taken the IELTS English test yet or had your education officially assessed? If not - then I don't see the economic streams as being faster than spousal sponsorship.

Again, I'd assume you won't have OHIP coverage for the birth and base your plans on that.

One of the options will be to have birth in Poland. Since the father is Canadian, your child will be Canadian from birth (unless he himself was not born outside Canada).
And even if not, sponsorship there is rather easy And the child can become citizen rather fast.
