Hello everyone,
I just received this from the Canadian Embassy, Immigration Section
Could this be a good sign or may be a bad one ?. I'm trying to stay objective

Thank you !!

Dear Sir and Madame ,
This is to advise you that this interview is required in order for us to assess your application for permanent residence in Canada.

Dear LegalFalcon,

I seek your opinion on my case.

FSWO (Based in New Delhi)
My AOR - 9th Sep 2017
RPRF Request - 2nd October (Paid and Submitted on 6th October)
ADR for newborn requested 31st October 2017
ADR submitted on 20th Feb(Deadline was 28th Feb 2018) with CAD150 Child processing fee, Birth Certificate, Passport, Medical and pending X-Ray of Spouse, Updated IMM0008 and 5406
UCI for newborn generated on 21st Feb 2018
IP2 on 27th Feb 2018(Background check > We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information)

No update since then, a friend of mine with same situation got PPR a couple of weeks ago(Both his and mine VO is CPC Ottawa and not New Delhi). I Called up IRCC last Friday via skype and they said.

- Completeness check > Pass
- Eligibility check > Pass
- Criminality check > Pass
- Medicals > Pass
- Security check > Not yet started

What do you think are my chances for getting PPR? We don't have any travel history. Any possibility of rejection at this stage? We ordered GCMS a few weeks back and yet to receive it.

Regards,
Satyam
@legalfalcon Still awaiting your response to my original query. Yet to receive my GCMS(It's been over 40 days!!!)

Hi @legalfalcon,

Just a quick question. We've just received our notes, which say that we have passed eligibility, but next to security it is just blank (doesn't say not started or anything at all). Is that a sign of us being in SS?

Thanks in advance

Hello legalfalcon,

I have a unique issue here that I am looking for some advice.
My CRS score is 440. I submitted my OINP application back in March, still with no change in the status ( shows submitted in website).
Meanwhile, I am also applying to business schools in Canada for MBA. And some very lucrative offers came from schools outside Ontario.
Which brings me to my question- if I accept OINP, and get PR status, can I study for two years in a different province other than ontario?

Thanks in advance :)

I sure thank you legal for your reply.
In regards to INFO SHARING, isn't it supposed to complete before the file is transferred to LVO?.
in my case under ASSESSMENT it was showing IN PROGRESS when the file was routed to LVO in January, 15.
under ACTIVITIES
info sharing for my wife was showing COMPLETED.
Here is what happened to my INFO SHARING based on what I see on the GCMS notes:
info sharing 1
Status : retransmission required
info sharing 2
status: not started

Please note that at the same time (hour: minute and second ) when my second info sharing was created, and error came back and logged as a note about the bigraphic Partner USA stating (Error Returned- EPCQS-PCQS Unavailable).
From what I have read PCQS is "Person Centric Query Service", that is USA system CIC uses to run biographic search on.
I assume that there was an error and that's why INFOR SHARING under ASSESSMENT was like IN PROGRESS, and in spite of that the file was transferred to LVO.
I'm afraid that this was be an error, and if info sharing is not triggered again from lvo my file will just stay there forever.
Please note that on my notes were generated in March, 1, and it shows that my file was not touched ever since it was transferred to lvo in January, 1
I sure hope to get a reply from you Sir about this , as your analysis will certainly be of a great help.
Thank you ,
It does not matter which office your file is at. In most cases, security, and info sharing takes place from the LVO which issues the PPR.

Would like to ask you a question on the same topic. I submitted my application on 4 March. So far medical has passed and more than a month since MEP. Is my eligibility ongoing, I hope it is. I believe it is done after the criminality is done. Anyway I am thinking of ordering gcms notes. How long should I wait more, before making an order? Thank you very much once again.
I don't speculate. GCMS is by far the best way to know the status of your application.

GCMS can be ordered anytime after submitting the application. However, to see some progress on your application, you should order your first set 45-60 days post AoR.

No worries, @legalfalcon is also a cool dude. He might join us one day ;)

It is just right to invite him as he has always been a great help to all of us :)
Kitchener is on my radar too. I am moving to GTA soon, but I have never liked big cities. So you never know.

Hi Legal Falcon,

My TL:

AOR - 16th May'17 FSWO Indian
Criminality, medical and R10 passed - 28th June'17
Eligibility passed - 26th July’17
BGC started - 1st Aug’17
GCMS notes generated in Nov’17, Dec’17 and Jan’18 never showed SS.
CBSA notes generated in Feb'18 mention Organised Crime Screening (OCS) since 1st Aug’17 but not Security Screening.

Since you always insisted that unless GCMS has SS mentioned, one can’t be in SS, I believed I’m not into SS. Not anymore as OCS is mentioned clearly. This is the first time I’ve seen something called Organised Crime Screening. Wish to know your views on OCS and how long does it take to be cleared.

Thank you.
OCS is for applicants whose name or credentials shows up in any drug trafficking or organized crime activities. It is very rare. Just be patient and this will pass by on its own. There is nothing much you can do.

If your name pops up on the system during a search, then in that case a full blown investigation is done before concluding the security. It can take a substantial amount of time. Keep a track of your GCMS notes, and if need be order a new set of CBSA notes, as in there the security is not retracted.

Hello LegalFalcon,

I've recently got admission to University in Canada for the September 2018 session and am currently in SS. I wanted to know if it's worth - or even recommended - to apply for a Student Visa and what I need to take care of if I apply.

My AOR is May 11th 2017, so almost a year now, and SS started September 13th, but I'm really worried my PPR won't come through in time, so want to explore other options.
Student visa and PR applications are processed under different parameters. There is no harm in applying for a student visa. Many applicants who are already in Canada are in SS. So being in SS does not necessarily mean a denial of temp visitors visa.

Hello @legalfalcon

I got the notes from your site. I have something to ask.

First of all, the notes are created when we place an order OR when finally they are released? I ordered on 15th last month and my notes says Creation date 15 last months, means they are a month old notes and have no updates after the date of order?

Few questions,
1. It says my employment is ongoing while I have clearly mentioned in my PR app, that my Employment is gone after Sep Last year. Should I now raise CSE to update them about it? Can I tell them about the notes I got? I mean I found out about it via Notes. [I just checked my Employment reference letter which was month old before I applied for nomination. That letter says I am still their employee... which must have confused CIC about my employment. Should I raise CSE about it?

2. My A11.2 is Met, everything else is Met. My Eligibility is not started, while on some pages it also says Passed. Is it all good? How do I know that if I am in SS or not?

3. On Notes, Agent reviews are positive but it says Funds : Not Verified. What does it mean?

4. What part of the notes tell us about the latest update on our file? [Is it agent review?]

Thanks
The notes can be generated anytime after the request is placed. In most cases the notes are generated 1-2 weeks after the request is filed.

1. If your employment changes, you have to inform IRCC. This is because if IRCC decides to contact your employer they should be aware that you no longer work for the employer.

2. A11.2 is eligibility and security are entirely different things. The eligibility takes place in 2-3 stages. First an analyst will review your docs. Then based on that make a recommendation. This recommendation os then reviewed by an officer who will make a final determination. Even though your notes may say that your eligibility is passed or met until you see the status on page 2 as passed, your eligibility is not passed.

3. This is just a way of saying that they are taking your bank documents as is without verifying them. This is just to keep the agent safe as they have not contacted your bank to verify your funds.

4. Its the last few pages. For the file, see the mid pages.

Thanks for your reply.

If they come with me for soft landing in Canada, will the authorities think that i am trying to fool them by taking non accompanying dependents during landing. Will they think that the dependents will not return and deny PR for me for misrepresentation?
As long as the dependents have a visa, they will be permitted to enter Canada. However, at the port of entry the CBSA officer will ask the reason for entry and can make a determination of not allow them to enter. It is highly unlikely. If in down, you can enter before they do.

Hi,@legalfalcon Could you please help me with this? I am not sure whether visa officers think I meet the MEC: 1560 working hrs under federal skills worker program when getting the ITA on Feb 7 , 2018.
I have been working at the same job since September 2015 continuously till now. It is contract-based and 4 month is a contract. The current contract is from January 2018 to April 2018.
My employment letter indicates: The hours I have worked, including the current contract, total 1722 hours.
The average was 12 hours a week, however note, for the period Sept-Dec 2017, the average was 14.5 hrs per week.

I have two questions:
(1). Q: Do I need to finish the current contract to meet the MEC since my employment letter mentions the current contract in total hours and just provides the average weekly hours but not weekly hours?

(2). If the above (1) is not a concern, then
I suppose there are two ways to calculate my working hours:
A. i. Sept 2015 to Aug 2017 2 years, 52*2=104 weeks, 104*12=1248 hrs
ii. Sept 2017 to Dec 2017 4 months, 17 weeks 3 days, 17.4 weeks, 17.4*14.5= 252.3 hrs
iii. Jan 2018 to Feb 7, 2018 5 weeks 3 days, 5.4 weeks, 5.4* 12= 64.8 hrs
total: 1248 + 252.3 + 64.8 = 1565.1 hrs

B. i. same as A
ii. 17 weeks, 17*14.5= 246.5
iii. 5 weeks, 5*12= 60
total : 1248+ 246.5 + 60 = 1554.5 hrs

Q:Can I know which way visa officers will adopt or neither?

(Actually, till Jan 28, I have satisfied the MEC if the above (1) is not a issue:
i. Sept 2015 to Aug 2017 6 contracts, 1 contract 210 hours, 6* 210= 1260 hrs
ii. Sept 2017 to Dec 2017 1 contract, 252 hours
iii. Jan 1- 28 2018 4 weeks, 4*12= 48 hrs
total: 1260 + 252 +48= 1560 hrs.
I have already submitted my e-APR and just included employment letter as my working proof. )
Thank you very much!
As per IRCC:

Work experience can be calculated by:

  • adding up the number of continuous weeks of full-time (or equivalent in part-time) paid work (i.e., 30 hours/37.5 hours per week in one full-time job, a combined total of at least 30 hours/37.5 hours per week in more than one part-time job,
  • 15 hours per week in one part-time job over a period of two years, etc) in one or more skilled occupations at Skill Type 0 (Managerial occupations), Skill Level A (Professional occupations) or B (Technical occupations and skilled trades) of NOC 2011.
Note: Work in excess of 30 hours/37.5 hours of paid work over a period of one week cannot compensate for less than one year of full-time work experience.
