Questions about status in Canada (Inland application)

I've been told that with my inland application (told on this forum) that I am to stay with my spouse as long as the application is in process.

Now I have a TR paper that says I must leave canada by the 24th of April this year, I have an application for an OWP that's been out since January and my PR application has been in since december. Do I need to file for an extension on the TR permit or am I allowed to be here because of my other applications?

The application for OWP gives you implied status in Canada. You are correct that you must remain in Canada living with your sponsor, for entirety of the PR app processing.

Sorry to seem dense but you are saying the OWP overrides the Temporary Residence permit. Just making sure I have a concise answer. I constantly get conflicting information from the government and have even spoke with the local MLA and they haven't been of any real help either. I just don't want to be here when the government says I shouldn't be and mess up being able to be here as that would mean a year or more away from my wife and daughter.

Do you have a TRV or a TRP?

The OWP doesn't override anything. You currently have visitor status and have applied to extend your status as a worker wih the OWP. When your visitor status expires, you will have Implied Status while waiting for the OWP to be approved. Once it is approved, you will have status as a worker.

and from there I’d just need to keep my OWP in status until the PR decision is made, thank you. Just didn’t want to throw 100$ at an exstension I didn’t need

MLA just contacted me informing me that I do indeed need to apply for another extension but to include with it a letter explaining I'm in the presses of obtaining an inland sponsored PR. Apparently that will help somehow, anyhow maybe this will help someone. Maybe the people in the government are just idiots and have it wrong but all I can do is go by what they say.

Basically local elected official who we were referred too by some other people that had felt with immigration a while back.
They are wrong. They are not CBSA, nor are they IRCC, so they are not specialists on this topic they are just giving their own opinion. I would just ignore their so-called advice since it's wrong.

You have applied for OWP which very clearly gives you implied status so there is no need to extend visitor status/visitor record. This is the entire point of what implied status means.

You'd only need to apply to extend or restore your status if for some reason your OWP app was returned due to an error.

They are wrong. You do NOT need to apply for a visitor extension.

Also, an MLA is provincial. Immigration is federal, so it would be an MP that you would want to deal with, though they can be wrong as well.
