I have no work experience which I can prove but my husband has provable 5 years of work experience. He is going to be the primary applicant. Can we still apply for PR together and make him the primary applicant?

If I use the come to Canada tool I am not asked questions about foreign work experience for me (the secondary applicant) but there’s a section that says that both have to be eligible to apply which confuses me.

you can apply. Its not necessary that secondary applicant need to have work experience. If you have, it will benefit for points. If you dont have, that points cannot be claimed.

Since ur husband has 5yrs of work exp, make him the primary applicant. for u, IELTS and education are required. Work exp is not required for secondary applicant. If you have any work exp in Canada, that would give you points, which you would have to show with relevant paperwork. IELTS and education for are required as they are point boosters for your profile.

Not yet, I am hoping he passes the ielts first. He has a BA from Australia but I am seriously worried because he’s doing this for me so he will not be preparing for the exam and solely rely on his previous English knowledge.

Yes I have my speaking part tomorrow then the rest of the test on the third. He has to score initial advanced for us to get 450 points.

I will go for the TEF too but it looks like a secondary applicant doesn’t help if he knows French.

best of luck to u too. for secondary applicant be it IELTS be it TEF...specific points have been set aside. so doesn't matter wat u give. for ur husband he has to score 8777 in IELTS in L,R,W,S respectively for u to reach a good score.

Why ia the listening so high? I know it’s supposed to be easier but still it’s quite high
The reason is simple. They want to know if your are able to understand what they say and reply accordingly. In short if you can follow day to day conversations.

It's not high. In fact, it's quite easy to achieve 8+ on listening. Sorry to say this, but if you are willing to live in an English speaking country, you should be able to communicate using proper English.

It is higher than the other sections and I was wondering why. I have never take the ielts so I wouldn’t know how easy it is to score 8 on listening. I did take TOEFL IBT 8 years ago before I went to study in the US and I scored 24/30. Quite frankly I am surprised why the accept just ielts. It’s very dated to have a paper based exam and disadvantageous to people who have very hard to read calligraphy.

They accept CELPIP and TEF Canada too. I have no knowledge about TOEFL. Anyways, based on what you said, you'll do fine. Don't worry. :)
