I took the TEF Canada twice in 2016 and I found it difficult and wearing. Nevertheless I encourage anyone who is interested on learning French to pursue it. Even if you are not planning to settle in a French speaking region of Canada. I learned a lot about Canada and its culture by listening to french speaking podcasts. And the CRS points I got with the TEF in addition to my IELTS (CLB 9+) made a difference in getting an NOI from Ontario. Even if I missed reaching CLB 7+ in all competences (my writing was CLB 6 for just a few points..).
