Hi,
I am applying for a skilled worker under Global Talent Stream. In addition, I submitted an application on cic for my wife work permit. She is going with me as well. After submission of forms, we are asked for biometrics only. But now a person told me that they might ask you medical of your wife as well in near future. My wife was in Pakistan until 2nd September,17. Now we are in Ireland. I have two questions:
1) Can they ask for medical? I am asking because currently, they didn't ask in the checklist.
2) on March 4th, she will complete her 6 consecutive months in Ireland. Can this bypass the compulsion of medical?. I mean as they ask for a compulosry medical test for residents from countries like Pakistan if in past one year you lived for consecutive 6 months in a specified country e.g. Pakistan.
Can 6 months continuous living in Ireland can help in avoiding the medical test?
Thank you in advance.
Regards

1. Yes, they will ask her for a medical.
2. It appears you read the instructions incorrectly

If you plan to visit for more than six months:
You will need a medical exam if you:

  • have lived temporarily for six or more months in a row
    • in one or more of these countries or territories
    • in the one year immediately before the date you want to enter Canada. (This applies even if you are a citizen of a country that does not need a visa to enter Canada.) or
  • will come to Canada to work in a job in which public health must be protected. See below for jobs for which you need a medical exam.

Hi, Thank you for your answer.
Regarding 2, thank you for clarification. But I mean until we have our biometrics in March, she will have 7 months in Ireland. So in one year, she will have less than six months in specified country (Pakistan). So what do you think now, Does it still apply?
Second, a new question, If I cancel her current submission for a work permit, will that create a problem for her in future. E.g. I cancel this application but submit visit visa application?
