documents to prove their relation or just the regular requirement for sponsoring?
I am not familiar with work permit related sponsorship. If Canada does have some sort of dependent VISA for persons obtained work permit, your mom will provide CIC an explanation letter to explain the mistake she made on her visitor visa application, plus any backup documents to back up that in fact that was a mistake, such as you said that your mom's passport claimed she was in fact married, before she submitted her application, and such. The good thing is eventually your mom claimed correctly on her work permit application, that too can be a back up document.

Anyway, good luck.

Sure, why not? Find a reputable lawyer most time will help. It costs? yes, but an experienced/good lawyer definitely will minimize the risk of an application to be denied or help you address your issue/concern properly.

I hired a lawyer myself for my case, and it cost me $7,000. And per the progress of my own case, it definitely worth it.

Trust the lawyer, not some people, man. Especially if it was a legal question you have.

Sorry man, my lawyer is in Toronto, I don't know any lawyer in BC.

Just go online and google it, you will have your answer. Some will have a first time free consultation, some will have a couple hundred dollars fee. It is all up to you.

Or you can call the law firm which is the owner of this forum?

I read your post, though I dont have an answer for your situation, I can suggest a good immigration lawyer in Vancouver, BC - Direction Legal LLP, Bonnie Teng. She will tell you upfront if you can win the case before taking it.

I had her to represent me for my PR app in 2014 and consulted her for spousal PR sponsorship last year. I got to know her from a good friend of mine who had her as the attorney for her FSW PR in 2008.

One more question though, did your mom provide your dad's name or anything on the visitor VISA form, even she mistakenly checked the divorce box?
Even I never filled out a visitor VISA application, I do believe that there should be some items for the applicants to fill family information, right?

If your mom did fill all necessary information about your Dad on the application form, then it will be a very simple case, that you mom just need to simply provide an explanation letter to CIC to explain the incident. If not, then that will be complicated, and seeking a help from a lawyer is a must.
