Hi All,

I am in a similar situation.

My wife and I did an inland landing at Etobicoke on September 11, 2017. I received my PR card last week, but my wife was asked to resubmit photos. We immediately submitted it on the day of the request itself. However, we are scheduled to Travel to India for 2 weeks on November 24th, 2017 and am planning to apply for a PRTD for my wife once we get there.

However, when i looked at the PRTD form, I am not sure how to meet the 730 days PR RO given the fact that we became PR's only 2 months ago. Any guidance on this will help.

Thanks
That is not applicable to you as you are a new Immigrant.

In that case, how are we to fill out the IMM5524 form ? There is no provision to mentioned that we are recent PR ?
Sorry I haven’t used that form so I won’t be in a position to advise on that. But for a person who became PR recently that rule doesn’t apply. Maybe you can leave it blank or mark it as Not applicable.

You only become subject to a residency obligation determination 3 years after you become a PR. Until then you are in automatic compliance.

Just fill in the box, tally up the dates, and skip to the declaration.

Officers know you are a PR for less than 3 years based on the landing date question.

PRTD must be apply outside Canada. If UK, look up the internet for the nearest location.

Also if your fiance has a US visa or US visa exempted, he can fly to the US and walk to the Canadian border (like the bridge above the Niagara river) and enter Canada without the PRTD with his COPR.
Hi,

I live in the US and my wife lives in Canada. Both of us are new PR's, waiting for our PR card. My wife would collect it in Canada and mail it to me in the US. So for now I am waiting for the card. But looking at your post got me thinking, maybe I can just cross the border by foot. Is that feasible ?
I live in Boston and I do not drive so what would you suggest, how do I go about it ??

Thanks,
DV

HELP!

My fiance landed on Dec 3 2016 and we just found out today (Feb 9 2017) that his pictures for his PR card were not accepted (despite having the immigration official take new photos specifically for the PR card..). The trouble is that he has flights to Scotland book for March 22. We have gotten the new photos and will send them off tomorrow but does anyone know anything about obtaining a Permanent Resident Travel Document? We called IRCC and they were useless in helping us with this matter or explaining how we can make sure he is allowed back in the country!

Do we have time to apply for this? Can you even apply for one from inside Canada? We don't like that he has to send his passport away as if it is lost he definitely does not have time to get a new one before his trip. Any advice is much appreciated- we are panicking!
I don't know specifically about UK/Scotland since I'm in USA. But I applied for PR TD from USA (Los Angeles visa application center), and they returned my passport with the travel document within 7 days.

Hi guys!
When filling in the application the questions comes - Does .... have a passport or travel document? My passport information is already in the table but the question appears again (I understand coz some people might have several passports or travel documents). But I have one passport and that's it. So should I answer the second time "No" to the same question?

No. No update yet. Did u get urs?
I’m applying for it tomorrow. I was told about 6 to 12 weeks. Also, I’ll be requesting to withdraw my passport in case I get my PR card through a friend.

One question though, did you already have the PR card that expired or were you a new immigrant who did soft landing like me and wants prtd to go back?

@grapehair my suggestion to u is dont apply for prtd, if u are expecting ur prc in less than a couple of months as prtd process is v v slow, it can take any indefinite period of time whereas prc is a routine procedure and arrives usually on time.

Answer to your question, My pr card was expired. And was scheduled to be delivered to my home addess but it was put on hold by cic as I wasn't present in Canada physically (btw they get this update when u apply for a prtd). I received a letter instead to show up at immigration office and pickup pr card. Now I need prtd first to go to Canada to get the pr card and it' already been 10 weeks & no resonse yet. The easier way is to wait for pr card, and get it mailed. It was through vac khi
