i wish i could tell you.. we are all on the same boat. New Delhi is pissing us all and making us frustrated to a level beyond imagination. Hopefully by Feb we should hear something.. by the way your GC Key account tells you of your background status not your ECAS.

This is a bit confusing. Did you apply for GC notes at ATIP or did you just fire an email to them ??

If you apply for GC notes (for which they will charge you 5$) it can take up to 31 calendar days for them to come back to you with notes.

If you have just fired an email to ATIP, bright possibility you are not going to get the information you seek about your case, and their usual reply period is also erratic, so cannot say you will get any reply at all, or if so then when you will get a reply.

What is the GC notes for? I have been seeing this quiet a bit on the thread. I havent done it and was wondering if that is something I am missing... Please help!

Is there anything we can do as a group together? File a petition? I mean alteast every other country I know (US and AUS) is giving visitor visa/dependant visa as soon as you are married and they they can take as much time as they want. Can we atleast think about doing a group letter to Trudeau's office? Some body has to take the step and make a change for everyone's benefit. I just thought I express the idea here since everyone is under the same frustration. It really does damage the initial bonding and relationship especially if yours is arrange marriage I feel. Sorry if I am being too emotional right now.

AUS and US are visa-exempt countries...our countries are not because of which we have to prove that we will be going back after our visa expires.. which is hard but not impossible to prove though..some have done it after several tries... there is nothing we can do that I can think of though.. NDVO is definitely slower than last year this time around

they said this year faster than last but looks like same:(

If you look at my previous msgs, I applied for notes on November 8; they were due on December 8 and I have not received them; me and the other forum member didn’t receive our notes as of yet; So, I emailed ATIP 10 days ago and I didn’t receive a reply from them either. It’s been more than 40 days now since I sent the initial request for gcms notes.

Check this link;
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=464&top=1

It clearly explains the processing time.

In the case of formal requests made pursuant to the Privacy Act, we have 30 days to respond. However, this period may be extended for a maximum of 30 days if:
-> meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of the government institution, or
-> consultations are necessary to comply with the request that cannot be completed within the original time limit.

The period may also be extended for a reasonable period of time if:
-> additional time is necessary for translation purposes, or
-> for the purposes of converting the personal information into an alternative format.

We will tell you about the extension and its length, within 30 days after the request is received. It will also let you know that you have the right to complain to the Privacy Commissioner about the extension.
Note: If you do not receive a response within 30 days, you may obtain the status of your request by contacting the ATIP Division via:
e-mail: ATIP-AIPRP@cic.gc.ca;

You would need to drop another email to the said address and also need to quote your request tracking number. However following their wordings, they have kept it vague enough for them to extend the response time by 30 more days, or in some cases indefinitely.
